Same Sex Breeding Item

On a different note, i thing this would be great! It frees up some of the limitations but I'd also like to suggest this: maybe there could be a surrogate mother option? |

Could you elaborate what you mean by surrogate mother? c: Like the pups have her genetics instead of one of the parents? |

Irl if a woman doesnt want to give birth or cannot give birth, a surrogate is used. If the woman simply doesnt want to give birth, the egg is fertilized then moved to the surrogate. HOWEVER, if the woman is unable to produce eggs (such as being infertile or having gone through menopause) a surrogate mother can also be used in the same situation but its done in a way thats sort of like reserve sperm donation. Think of egg donation? Basically, same sex female pair bonds can use a sperm donor (this would include the sperm donors genetics and the female chosen but would show the other female as the second parent with a small add on of including the male at the sperm donor) and vice versa with same sex male pair bonds using a surrogate to birth a pup Of course those are the other ways you can make this whole idea go so simply i would add those options on whilst also adding the sex same breeding item and an extra incase you really really want both wolves genetics in one pup |

As a stat breeder, when I want to breed a wlw (or mlm) couple, it's because I want that specific couple's stats, genetics, and lineage to be passed on to the next generation. Therefore, including the sperm donor's genetics would defeat the whole point. If I want a "sperm donor"/"egg donor" I can already use an outside stud, or canonically make a poly couple with only two of the wolves (a male & a female) being pairbonded. For me, the whole point of a same-sex breeding item is so that my chosen couple can have biological children just like any couple. |

I think your idea is super cute - I love the idea of there being different breeding options and family structures included in the family trees, even if they're just exclusively for lore purposes. From a strictly gameplay viewpoint I do agree with Lionel, though. If we want a sperm donor we can always just use a stud, and it's not really relevant to why we want a same sex breeding item. We specifically want the item so that same sex pairs are able to participate in the main gameplay of this breeding and genetics sim equally with their different sex counterparts. But yours is another idea that I think should be its own suggestion thread - even if it's not relevant to same sex breeding it's still a very cute idea, imo ^^ |
