A while ago I started recording the wolves I chase in a spreadsheet then following up with wolf search to see how many make it! I've made this thread as a place for others to share their data, in order to create a more accurate idea of the percentage of wolves that make it through the chase pool, both overall and for T3s/Specials.
The main R&C thread can be found HERE, but the most important details for this project are as follows: • Only adult wolves have a chance to enter the chase pool and be found, so please only record chased adults in your records • If a wolf is chased and found by someone then chased again, it gets deleted. So if you chase a wolf that was already a chased NBW, please don't record it and skew the data. • If a wolf is chased at 5 years or younger and they get found, they will be the same age that they were when they got chased. Any wolf older than 5 years will have it's age 'rerolled' if found, so it could be anywhere from 1 year old to 5 years old after that reroll.
1. Before chasing a wolf, record their details - you can fill out the form further down this thread to get access to a shared sheet where people work together to record and search for chased wolves. Or there is a blank version of the spreadsheet if you want to record your data separately. If you have your own forum thread elsewhere or some other method for tracking chased wolves, that's fine too, but spreadsheets have a lot of benefits! 2. Use the wolf search page (found HERE) to check whether each wolf has been found - most wolves that make it tend to turn up within a few days, but it can take longer. I try to do a search every few days after they're chased, up until 10 days have passed. Checking more often means you're less likely to miss a wolf that gets rechased, but a few searches will usally be enough to figure out whether they probably made it or not. Also I believe it is possible for a wolf to remain in the chase pool longer than 10 days, but most should make it before that and there's only so much effort I want to dedicate to wolf searching XD How to use wolf search: I usually just put in a few key markings (e.g. raffle/combo/other rare marks if they have them, these are the least likely features to have been removed). If this still brings up a lot of results to skim over then putting in 1 or 2 more markings/features and age criteria should narrow things down. Then check each through the results to see if any match the wolf you chased - be aware that markings/base/etc could have been changed, but if they're a NBW with enough shared features and the age of the wolf matches (unless it's an age reroll), then odds are it's the wolf you chased! Tip: Bookmark your searches, or put a link to them in the spreadsheet, that way it's easier to search for a wolf again! (Ty Midnight for the suggestion!) 3. Record whether a wolf has been found or not (aka if you find them or if 10+ days have passed without them turning up). Again I find using a spreadsheet helpful for keeping track of this! If you discover a wolf you chased has been found through discord or the chased wolf spotting page that's fine, but do not record a wolf as 'not found' without using wolf search to confirm it as many people will not report their NBW finds anywhere. 4. If you're recording your data separately, report it in this thread! You can either post new sets of data each time you post which I can add on to anything you've previously reported, or just give me an update of your overall numbers!
If you want to join the shared spreadsheet, you'll need to fill out the below form and post it in this thread. Once I've seen your post I'll message you with a link the the spreadsheet! Please be respectful of data entered by others - if something needs to be corrected e.g. a mispelling or something in the wrong column it's fine to correct it, but please don't intentionally delete any data or formula (if you accidentally delete something, hit undo or if that fails lemme know and I'll sort it!). I can recover lost data if necessary and will back up the sheet regularly, but I want to avoid recovering stuff as much as possible! Also feel free to complete or use the quick search links for wolves that other people have entered and mark them as found if they come up - More searches means less chance of a wolf being missed and therefore better data! If you want to record your data independently, you can save a copy of the blank sheet and post your totals in this thread peridocally so they can be added to the data from the main sheet. When posting your data, I'll need this information: • Is this a completely new set of data to be added on to anything you've previously submitted, or are these just your new totals? (If this is your first time posting data you can ignore this quesion) • Number of wolves chased: • How many of those wolves were found: And if you chase T3s, having the individual data for that is useful too! • Number of T3 wolves chased: • How many of those wolves were found: Here is an example spreadsheet and a blank version for recording and tracking wolves you chase Example Version | Blank Version (Go to 'File > Make a copy' to create your own usable version of it)
Chaser ID (shared sheet only): Your Wolvden ID number, e.g. mine is 19804 Date: The date you chased the wolf on (American format - Month/Day/Year) Base/Tier/Sex: A helpful reference point that also allows the sheet to detect T3s and specials Wardrobe Link: The long link from the box at the bottom of a wolf's wardrobe page Wolf Search QuickLink: When you first search for a wolf, save the URL of that search here! Next time you search for a wolf you can simply click that link :D Days Since Chase: DO NOT edit this! The sheet has formula to calculate how many days have passed since a wolf was chased. Once it's been more than 10 days, it will turn a light red to indicate that it's been long enough to mark a wolf as not found in the next column. Found?: Whether or not a wolf is found - leave it as '?' until a wolf is found (if so mark as 'Y') or 10 days have passed without it being found (if so mark as 'N'). The sheet has formatting that means colours automatically change when you enter each of the 3 options. Date Found: The date a wolf was found - Check the bottom right corner of a NBW's page, where it shows 'Wolf created on' From Chase to Found: DO NOT edit this! The sheet will calculate it if a found date has been entered in the previous column, and where nothing has been entered e.g. the wolf wasn't found the sheet automatically makes it blank. Found Link: If a wolf is found, a link to them. Not essential, but I like keeping the proof they were found and it allows me to check up on found wolves easily! T3/Special Found Column: DO NOT edit this, it should work automatically!! It has a formula that recognises whether 'T3' 't3' 'Special' or 'special' are present in the 'Base/Tier/Sex' column, if so it matches the contents of the 'Found?' column :D The Stats Tab You will see a 'Stats' tab at the bottom, here it will automatically calculate the data! It counts the amount of 'Y' and 'N' in the 'Found?' column, which allows the totals and find rates to be worked out.

Just wanted to add. Cause I didn't know this at first and find it very helpful and less tedious. You can bookmark your searches for wolves to save the markings /base your looking for so you don't have to keep entering it over and over everytime you search. Making searching alil easier. Awesome job Zodiakey I'll definitely be doing this. |

Btw I need to write it somewhere in the guide, but it's best to submit data of just the wolves that are either found or ruled out as not found (aka it's been 10 days without them turning up). So far none of your wolves have turned up, but since it not been 10 days that data isn't set in stone yet. - On a slight side note - I could change how this process works slightly, and allow people to record their chases on the same sheet. This allows anyone to contribute to recording chases or searching for them together, but also increases the risk of stuff accidentally getting messed up (although sheets has ways of recovering info). How would you - or anyone else reading this, feel about that option? |

Oh, got you, so after 10 days or when wolves are found I'll summit the new data. I had more chased wolves past 10 days and 1 found but I didn't want to use since I didn't search that often for them and don't wanna screw up the results. Starting fresh. I'm fine with either way you think will work. Maybe have a probationary period? like someone has to post thier records for a week before they have access to the main spread sheet? that way nothing gets all screwed up by someone not know what they are doing?....but I'm fine with how ever you want to do this. |
