They stayed there for a while, just talking about who knows what. Hiroshi had always found it difficult to enjoy the company of others, but he didn't mind spending time with Avery. For the first time in a while, he smiled. But it wasn't just that.. He meant it. So for those few hours, he let himself be happy. The original plan had been for them to go to the park, but lunch ended up taking much longer than expected, so Hiro decided they should just head home. While driving, he'd helped Avery apply a bandage over the mark. (Omg, it matches his picture!) Soon enough, he was standing at the door, about to open it. Suddenly, he felt Avery grab his hand. Avery hesitated, at the door and he quickly grabbed his hand. He looked up at him with scared light hazel eyes. Is...is it ok for me to go in? Your parents won't like..get angry right? |

"It's fine, Amy! My mom knows I have someone with me, and you're adorable, so she'll love you. And uh- It's just my mom and I.." He hesitated on that last part, but he added it anyway. He knew it was important that Avery know what to expect. Wait. She doesn't know about Skye. It'll be fineeee. Sure it will. Fuck off, brain. He squeezed Avery's hand, and didn't let go when he opened the door. They walked in and his mom called from the kitchen, "Honey, is that you?" "Yeah mom, it's me! Now come here! I have some special someones I want you to meet!" He responded, feeling Avery's anxiety radiating off him. "Wait- 'Someones'?" She echoed back. As Hiroshi's mom walked out of the kitchen, he could feel Avery squeezing his hand. She was a short woman, a bit on the heavier side, but not in the bad way, and she had Hiro's same wavy brown hair. She had elvish ears, but other than that, she was human. Once she looked up, she nearly squealed. "Awh! Honey, he's adorable! And who is this sweet girl?" She gasped as she bent down to let Skye sniff her hand. |

"Hello, dear! I'm Hiro's mother, but you can just call me Nezumi!" She gave him a friendly smile, trying to help him calm down by speaking. "And who might you be?" She encouraged. Hiro felt a sudden squeeze, as he realised that his mother didn't know. Do you want me to tell her..? He looked down at Avery, who was still panicking. Nezumi wasn't going to say anything, but she had seen how they were holding hands. Oh come on! I've been trying to get him to come out for months! And then he just walks in here holding a boy's hand?! ¡Híjole! I realise that the names and the language don't match up, but it's too late now, and I feel like speaking Spanish today U3U )) |

Avery hesitated before he nodded as he looked up at him. It's fine...She won't look at me weird right? My mother does that a lot..and I'm scared she might. Skye whimpered and licked Avery's hand trying to calm her owner down. |

"Mama, he's mute. He's kinda terrified right now because of.. Things at home. Could you please explain to him how things work around here?" He asked, still holding onto Avery. "Oh, ¡pobrecito bebé!" She gasped, taking a step towards him. She hugged him without hesitation and Hiro gently let his hand go. "Don't worry, sweetie! We don't judge here, okay? I'm actually deaf in one ear, and Hiro's sister has a hard time with speech too!" She explained, giving him some space now. |
