Awh, thanks for the offer, but I actually have pack laws that prevent me from taking in outsiders :/ ))

Hitashi gave a small nod, not really bothering to look around the room at first. He was tired, so his only real plans were to put his shit away and then go to sleep. He stepped in and turned around, trying his best to bring himself back to attention. He had somewhat zoned out while they'd been walking, and was having a hard time pulling himself out of that feeling. "Thank you, Grim. I'll see you in the morning, alright?" He offered a small smile, though it was soft and tired.
He glanced around the room as he stood there, seeing the intricate patterns along the walls, and on the furniture. He'd seen similar designs before, and even attempted a few in his free time. Though, the people of his home town tended to frown upon his more. . artistic manner. People fear what they cannot control, and that includes other people. It wasn't uncommon for him to be scolded or hit for attempting unique designs, though, he tried not to think about that too much. He'd long since come to the conclusion that he simply needed to go with the flow, and try not to stand out too much. "Just do as you're told, and don't let your imagination wander. The customer wanted what they ordered, not whatever flowery bullshit you've made." These words continued to echo in his mind, stabbing at him like a thorn in his side. "Just do as you're told." He uttered quietly, making sure it was barely audible.

That's okay ! I'll find someone else to take them ))

Grim smiled back, leaving his response wordless. He closed the door as he left, giving Hitashi the privacy he probably needed. The walk back to his office felt a little lonelier than usual. It was a familiar and old feeling that he wanted to push aside in favour more important things. He wanted Hitashi to feel more comfortable in his house, he'd stay up all night to come up with something. There had already been an attempt with the dinner, asking for the kitchen to prepare familiar dishes for him.
With a head full of thoughts, he'd neglected to tell Hitashi the few rules of the manor that he had. Such as not entering the bedrooms near his own, the one about not entering the garden didn't apply to him though.

Time skip to the next morning ? ))

Hitashi walked over to the desk and yawned, taking off his shoes and setting them neatly beside the chair. He normally would have stayed up a little later to get himself acclimated, but he was too exhausted right now. He'd probably only get around five hours of sleep before having to get up again, so he needed to take full advantage of the time he had left.
He plopped down on the bed, not even bothering to get under the covers. His mother still didn't know where he was, and his siblings were probably feeling lonely without him. He'd gotten used to telling them all stories at night, just like his older brother used to do for him. The stories were never very good since he couldn't read actual books, but the kids still loved it. He smiled at the thought, trying not to focus on the fact that he couldn't even read. Only five minutes later, he was fast asleep.

(( Sure thing! ))

Hitashi woke up early the next morning, just before the sun came up. He silently cursed himself for staying up so late, but got up nevertheless. He stretched and brushed himself off, realising he hadn't brought any clothes with him. The market hadn't been a very friendly place last time, but he'd have to go if he wanted to have something to change into.
He walked down the halls, smiling softly. Despite the lack of sleep, he actually seemed fairly perky. As he approached the garden doors, he felt he was being watched yet again. "Good morning to you, too." He sighed, not even batting an eyelash as he opened the doors. This would be a long day, but he didn't mind at all. The sun was warm as it peaked up above the rows of petrified trees, and the eerie silence had actually grown to be quite nice.
Though the garden was large, he'd somehow managed to get most of it cleared out last night. Now all he'd have to do was water the plants daily and wait for them to grow. There was, however, one thing he hadn't gotten planted last night. Thus began the quest to plant a willow tree.

The master of the house had got little sleep, which wasn't unusual for him. Looking sickly had been something that'd been with him even in his youth. His slender build never seemed to gain weight but could easily loose it and his skin stayed pale even when out in the sun all day. By the time Hitashi had entered the garden, the pink haired staff member practically came skipping into his office to tell him so. They'd never known how to knock, it ticked Grim off a bit.
He rose from his chair, his bones feeling heavy within his flesh and skin. He picked up a silver tray that had been placed off to the side of his desk, upon it was a pen, a pencil, a few pieces of blank and writing paper and an envelope. While brainstorming, he'd recalled Hitashi's sister that he seemed to care for, he figured he should make sure him and his family stayed in contact. More items would be placed onto the tray as he made his way towards the doors entering out into the garden. Such as breakfast for the other man. Bacon, eggs, fresh bread and honeyed steamed vegetables. The last one was usually seen in dinner foods, Grim wasn't completely sure why he'd asked for it. Probably requested in a tired or distracted state.

Hitashi was currently struggling to find a place for the sapling. Instead of standing there thinking like an idiot, he'd decided to ponder while watering the plants. They'd probably germinate within two days, and he was eager to see what colours they would turn out to be. He'd been aware that the staff had been spying on him again, but he soon felt at ease. He'd assumed that they'd grown bored of watching him garden and left, which he was rather grateful for. It would be a lie to say that he wasn't at least somewhat bothered by the constant stares.
Hitashi was on the far right side of the garden, just now working his way through the last of the flower beds. Though he appeared to be on task, his mind was wandering elsewhere. His mother had probably just woken up, and his sister would be making breakfast for everyone right about now. That task was normally assigned to him, but he knew Natsia would have taken over for him. There was a tight feeling in his chest whenever he thought about his family, and he couldn't help but miss them. He swallowed and took a breath, attempting to calm himself down. His sister's words echoed inside his mind, and it was beginning to irritate him. "Anxiety. That girl is well beyond her years. I imagine she'd have become a doctor if she were born into a better situation." He thought to himself, smiling softly. Even if she had been brought up differently, he knew she wouldn't have the attention span to become a doctor. The two of them were similar in that way, never able to hold still, very hands on learners, easily distracted or amused. Natsia, however, had been restless since infancy. The girl knew what she wanted, and she didn't settle for anything. He was proud of her for that, but he knew it could also be her downfall in the future.
He shook his head slightly, realising he'd gotten very off task. He hummed quietly while he refilled the watering can, hardly paying attention to the world around him. He'd accidentally gone off into his own little world again.

He was still hesitant and refused to enter the area outside. It was a mix of paranoia and trauma, this place held most of the good and bitter memories. Tea parties, staying up late talking, from there it'd all gone down hill. Death struck anywhere his path was heading, by the time he'd get there the blood would be assume to be on his hands. People needed a villain or common enemy to bring them together, that was the only positive in Grim's misery. His closest companions had either died around him or fled in fear of meeting their end next. The straw that broke the camel's back even happened in the garden, he'd had his last dance with a loved one before they passed in his arms.
He'd been standing and staring ahead for a moment, blinking as he realised how he had carelessly spaced out. He needed to give the tray to Hitashi before his breakfast got cold.

Hitashi had turned around to go and refill the watering can, but was surprised to see Grim lingering in the doorway. "Oh- Good morning!" He waved, walking over to the pump and setting the can down. He made his way to the door, deciding to continue his work once Grim had left. "What can I do for ya?" He asked, sounding as friendly as ever. He was much more comfortable now that he didn't have to be so formal with the other, and it showed. He had gone right back to being the same lighthearted person that had met 'Arius' on the night of the festival.
In all honesty, Hitashi didn't normally eat breakfast. He was always either too busy, or he'd get distracted. It hadn't even crossed his mind that he'd been skipping meals until his mother outright told him.

Short post lol- Random(ADHD thoughts), but aren't waffles just more considerate pancakes? Like, a waffle will hold your butter, syrup, and everything for you, but then pancakes are just like *Splat* and then everything falls off. :/
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. :3 ))

Smiling, he gestured to the tray being held in his gloved hands. "Here's your breakfast, and some stationary for writing home. If you decide to, the materials are available." He told Hitashi, watching him move around. The morning sunlight didn't reach far inside, but he could feel its radiating warmth trying to touch his skin.

Yeah, I prefer waffles because of that but sometimes a well-made pancake tastes real good ))

Hitashi smiled and dipped his head gratefully, not really addressing the fact that he didn't normally eat in the mornings. He took the tray carefully, making sure to avoid contact. He froze, however, when he saw the pen and paper laid out on the tray. For a moment, he seemed paralyzed. 'I-" He swallowed, unsure of how to say this in a way that didn't make him seem incompetent. "I appreciate the gesture, but. . I'm actually-" He mumbled, turning away from him and setting the tray on the banister. "I don't know how to write. I'm illiterate." He turned around and tried his best to force a smile, hoping to avoid an awkward conversation.
That was one part of his life that he often tended to forget, and it stung each time he was forced to remember. Many of the children from the lower ranks didn't receive an education, and were instead made to learn their family's profession. It was a common practice, though Hitashi strongly disagreed with it. He'd worked hard to make sure that all of his younger siblings went to school, but his money could only stretch so far. Natsia had recently stopped going to school to work as a seamstress to help pay for their other siblings' educations.

I had A TON of pancakes earlier with my roommate, and they were ✨ A M A Z I N G ✨ ))

His emotions didn't falter as Hitashi told him the state of his literature skills. He wasn't someone who judged others, an ugly face had never disgusted him, a towering physique had never frightened him, a child had never brought him joy. They were all just other beings, exisiting with their own defects or talents. 'Ones being could not merely be judged on their looks, but by their quality.' That was something Grim and the king's overseers once spoke, although one of the two high ranking individuals didn't seem to follow that saying to the letter. It wasn't Grim's place to pick apart others on what they could or couldn't do, the same could be done to him in turn. He wasn't a prime example of perfection like the king had oh so graciously accepted, he was what was meant to be seen as horrible in the world. But with a being that shined so brightly such as the king, long did the shadow he cast without willingly to acknowledge it. Those in his shadow included lower citizens and some from his own court, recalling this was what caused displeasure to appear on Grim's face. "Such is the way the world works, nothing to feel shame over." He wasn't upset, not at the man before him at least. It was another failure on the king's hands, one he wouldn't allow continue if he had his will again. "This could be an opportunity for you to learn a little, if you have the time." The dark haired man offered, keeping his bitter ramblings to himself.

Sorry for the sudden disappearance, I kind of have a schedule now. Equine therapy every Friday and then other stuff scattered around/I don't know when 💀💀 ))
