Kaia shook her head a little and changed into a pair of grey sweatpants, ignoring how wrong it felt. She took off her shirt and just flopped back onto her bed in a sports bra, not feeling like putting on any of the generic things she had in her wardrobe. She took her hair out of the bun and just closed her eyes, trying to focus on the memory fragments again. Instead of being met with the memories from before, she came face to face with herself. The things she'd seen before were of Eva, people in white coats, and a news broadcast, but this was just herself. She was standing in front of a mirror in a room she didn't recognize, listening to a song she'd never heard before. Her hair only went down to her shoulders, and she was an inch or so shorter than she was now. ". . . come get dinner! . . made your favorit-. . !" Someone shouted from downstairs, and she felt herself looking over. She couldn't hear all of what they were saying, but she could've sworn she recognized the voice. "Coming, Daw- . . ." The memory stopped there, and her eyes suddenly flew open. She could feel tears streaming down her face. |

Eva watched everything around her, but she soon recognized some of the people down in the streets. "White coats.." She muttered as she scrambled off of the couch. She went to where Kaia was and poked her head into the room. |

Kaia wiped her face as soon as she saw Eva poke her head in, trying to get herself together for a moment. She didn't even know why she was crying. "What is it? Do you need help with something?" She asked, sounding a little friendlier than earlier. "White coats. They're in the street." Eva responded, seeming somewhat nervous. "What? Why are they here?" Kaia mumbled to herself, standing up and walking out to the living room. She peered down through the window and quickly realised what was going on. "Fuck- Fuck, fuck, FUCK." She panicked, running back to her room and clearing her search history. She didn't explain what was happening, and just kept running around the house picking things up and putting them back where they normally went. |

Eva was watching, feeling more anxious by the minute. Her tail kept flicking back and forth and she tried to figure out what was going on. "what's wrong? Why are you rushing" she said as she looked back down at the streets |

Kaia heard her, but didn't respond at first. She ran to her room and pulled a shirt on, not bothering with her hair. "The lab went into lockdown today- I wasn't there during role call, so they're checking to see where I went. I have to give them a valid reason, or I'll be taken for interrogation. Now that I think about it, you're probably the reason we were on lockdown." She muttered, taking Eva's hand and dragging her to the bedroom. She lifted up the mattress to reveal a hidden compartment. It was mostly used for storage, but she needed Eva to hide. "I'm not trapping you, I promise. If they find you here, we're both dead. I'll come and get you out once they're gone." She had a look of fear in her eyes, but she tried not to let it show. |

Eva seemed to sense the fear, her own fear showing in her eyes. She stared at the compartment and she slowly went into it. Her hands were shaking and she seemed terrified to go into another confined space. She looked up at Kaia, "Please. Come back." |

"I promise." Kaia nodded and put the mattress back down, quickly running back to the living room to pretend like she'd been there the whole time. A knock came at the door, so she got back into character and got up to answer it. "Hello? Oh- Hey!" She smiled, seeming friendly again. "Kaia Sierest, right? You weren't present for roll call. We're here to inform you that there's been a problem at the lab, and we're now on lockdown." A boy responded, sounding dead inside. "Oh my- What happened? Should I go back?" She asked, sounding concerned. "No, you're alright. We just need to know why you weren't there. It's for report purposes." He crossed his arms, seeming annoyed. "Oh- I figured I'd hear about the presentation sooner or later, so I just left early." She shrugged, sounding very nonchalant. |

"Alright." The boy didn't sound at all convinced, but he didn't have probable cause to investigate her yet. "Tell me, how has your sister been recently?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Her heart dropped, but her expression didn't falter. "Hm? I don't have a sister?" She sounded genuinely confused, and he seemed to buy it. "Ah. My mistake." He dipped his head a little before waving his coworkers off. "We'd better get going. Have a nice day, Ms. Sierest." He turned and left, but not before he could exchange an irritated glance with the girl next to him. As soon as they were gone, she shut the door and ran for the bedroom. She lifted the mattress immediately with a panicked look in her eyes. "They know." She mumbled, but it was to herself rather than Eva. |

Eva quickly got out of the confined place, "We need to run. Those were white coats!" Her own panic showing just by looking at her. "I won't go back. I'd rather die" |
