Haunted Pack Lore (dnp, wip)

you feel shivers crawl up your back as you step foot into the foggy clearing. you got lost on your mountain hike, and now you aren't sure where to go next. this clearing is incredibly unsettling, but you're exhausted, so it'll have to do for now. you set down your backpack and pull out a water bottle, but your heart wrenches when you see that it's empty. you haven't had a drink in a long time, and you're extremely thirsty. what will you do now?

you jump as a growl sounds behind you. you whirl around to see beady, yellow eyes bore into your soul. you're frozen, and you feel cold. not being able to move, you just stare back at the pair of eyes, who narrow, like they're reading you. after a long moment the figure stalks forward, and out of the shadows comes a body of a  gray wolf, who seems to be slightly fazing in and out of vision. the wolf blinks at you, then bows it's head. "you seem to be harmless, therefore I will not harm you." the wolf says in a deep, comforting voice. you let out a breath you didn't even know you were holding, and nod. 

"i am Ghost, leader of Haunted pack." he introduces himself, bowing low. not really knowing what to do you bow back and say your name. Ghost huffs a chuckle and nods back to you. "you are polite. do you need assistance?"

you take a minute to explain your situation. Ghost looks at you with sympathy. "we scented humans about a days walk from here. for now though, you should come with me to rest and have some water." he suggests, turning around to start walking away. he didn't seem to wait for an answer from you, but who would refuse free water and shelter? besides, you feel safe with this wolf, like he knows something you don't. you pick up your things and follow him into the trees.

you timidly walk forwards and a beautiful, silver wolf with blue eyes greets you enthusiastically. "welcome, my name is Spirit." she introduces herself, bowing. you bow in return and say your name.

"it is very nice to meet you. would you like to learn about our hunters and scouts?" she asks. you nod your head. 

Spirit wags her tail and turns her nose towards the den. "very well then, come with me."

 Hunters:

"as the name suggests, the hunter's job is to capture food for the pack. hunters are also tasked with catching food for the pack's spirits, and making sure the young and sick are fed first. each hunter has their own strengths and weaknesses. they are fed second to last, before the pack leader."

Scouts:

"scouts are responsible for two very important roles. the first role is to find new territory and expand the pack's residence. having more territory brings light to new prey, as well as new spirits to connect with. the second role is territory defending. each scout has extensive training in battle, and they are able to ward off predators with utmost efficiency. they also must patrol each border and make sure they are marked accordingly. they are fed before hunters and after the sick and young."
