I think Lunar event was a great idea on paper: anything moon/night-related goes perfectly with wolves, and the fact it occurs every month is exciting as well! However, I think the Lunar event is simply too limited with blue-purple fantasy aesthetic that was announced originally. There will be around 6 new lunar bases released every year, and literally dozens of decors that have a very homogeneous look. It clutters the item database with blue (and sometimes purple) glowing stuff that feels essentially the same. At the moment of posting, we have approximately: ~ 16.5 pages of "normal" decor. ~ 2 pages of Coigreach decor. ~ 11.5 pages of Lunar decor. And with how much more frequent the Lunar updates are compared to regular Development Updates, Lunar decors and background will soon start to outweigh the regular stuff. This isn't a problem in itself, as long as the Lunar stuff is universal enough to be implemented with other aesthetics, which it currently isn't. Lunar stuff is simply too saturated, bright, and fantastical to mesh with most normal backgrounds and decorations. You have to either go all in and have everything in "blurple" or have no "blurple" at all. This is not a hard rule, of course: some people are very successful at making designs with just 1-2 Lunar items blended with the other stuff. However, I think most people would agree it's definitely a tricky task. This brings me back to the topic of the original, announced theme for the Lunar event: it's blue, it's purple, and it glows! I suggest that the staff could consider potentially going back on that theme and tweaking it to be more encompassing and universal — for the sake of the Lunar event's longevity. People are already weary of getting "yet another blue base/decor/background/etc", and I feel like the Lunar event can be so much more than that. Here are some general themes and ideas that still fit moon/space/fantasy/glowy aesthetic and are more distinct and diverse than what we have now:
I think diversifying the themes for the Lunar event will make people excited and more engaged with the game in a long-run. Right now, I know exactly what I will be getting next month: some blue glowing animals to stand near my wolves, some blue plants to grow near my wolf, and maybe a blue/purple (or pink, judging from the current poll) base to apply to my wolf. I think it would be much more surprising and fun for players to not be sure what kind of exact theme the Lunar event will have next time: will it be dark and edgy, with some nebula-like mist trailing behind my wolves, and the animal companions looking mysterious and evil? Will it be white and divine, with constellation patterns and stardust all over? Will it be golden, with some jewelry and crescent designs and realistic nighttime backgrounds? Otherwise, people will simply burn out regarding the event and just... not participate or buy anything. I can see a potential argument being made that such wide array of themes can overlap with future month-long events, but I don't think it's an issue. Coigreach's floral decors (ivy, thistle, daffodils) can easily pass for normal craftable/Raccoon decors already. And it's not a big deal! I think Lunar event shouldn't be afraid to also look a tad more universal and diverse as well :> |

I really like the suggested themes and think they would fit within the overall Lunar world. I'm not saying you should stop completely with the blue/purple/glow stuff, because they do look amazing, but I agree with OP that it would be nice with some more muted/toned down apps, decor and backgrounds every now and then. |

When the event first came out, I didn't mind the color scheme. And for those who love blue, they loved it - and probably still do. I don't dislike any color, so I enjoy seeing everything. The events' colors are ones I like normally, but when that's all there is, it blends together. For those who don't like blues/purples or like variety most of all, it grew old at some point. The only exception to this has been Turquoise. Yes, I know some people use Moonlight and Airglow as examples of variation, but they don't deviate that much. Turquoise is at least largely green, even with the blue accent. Moonlight and Airglow are purple with pink accents. And as for the decor, green and pink aren't really seen. The decor's not easy to work with when designing a wolf, unless bright blue was the goal. So it's either all or nothing for that stuff. Excluding limited backgrounds, the last thing I ever bought from the shop was Turquoise when it first came out. That was nine months ago. And that was right when Coigreach happened, so the only green thing the event has given us and it's right when we're getting green from Coigreach, leading to a sudden saturation of green out of nowhere. Odd timing imo. Regardless, that's the last I've participated in the shop. Considering this is the only event we've got to garner interest, that isn't great. I've seen it argued that we should just be patient because monthly events will fill the gaps, but we don't know if that would fix blue and purple outweighing every other color group. We get a week of Lunar every single month, after all. And even if it did fix it, that's not now. We don't have the events to fill those gaps and we have no idea when we will, and it'll probably be long time. All we've got in the meantime is the event that we currently have. The one we will always have. The only thing we consistently get something new for and the one that hardly ever changes. Though I've never used the decor, I'm happy some players love the event for what it is. But we desperately need something else. There's so much room in a Lunar theme for branching themes. We really need that change, and not a small change of blue or purple + accent, main color + blue or purple accent either. Also, the fact that we have that much Lunar stuff is scary. New theory - the dreamland is actually a living parasite and it's slowly devouring the real world. Like a disease that spreads each time our leaders foolishly enter its maw. Calling it now. |

And I get that, I do. But the thing is, I'm satisfied with the level of "activity" the Lunar event offers. Personally, I don't need more events to keep me engaged. But I do want more variety within the Lunar event. Judging from Coigreach, we will get 2 bases per monthly event. Meaning around 24 new special bases per year, but only when we'll get all the monthly events. AND that's assuming all events will introduce special bases and not just decors/breeding items/buff items and so on. That... can be literal years away, since the current pace really is looking like 1 new monthly event per year. By the time we'll get all of those events & bases, we'll have a huge backlog of blue bases, my guess is maybe around 40 or so. And there's only so much you can do with purple, blue, and teal. We already have just about any type of object as a glowing Lunar decoration (rock, arch, tree, cobweb, etc), so I really don't see much room for growth within the set aesthetic that was announced for the event. |

The only thing I can't imagine happening from that list is stardust, constellations, or galaxy when it comes to wolf bits like skins, eyes, or bases. They were very rare late base items in their other game Lioden, so I like to imagine they're saving something like that for something insanely special. BUT your suggestion is about decors and themes, so it doesn't really matter. I just wanted to mention that. As far as decors, I'd LOVE to see some more galaxy stuff. And just a small image of what the staff could really take inspiration from!! |

When I was beta testing for this game, I was so excited, everything was realistic and normal and exactly what I wanted from it. Cue the Lunar events, which is fine if you like neon/unrealistic stuff, which I really don't. But it's fine because we'll get other events for those of us who like more natural colour palets right? NOPE Here we are, nearly 2 years later and we've had 1 event other than lunar. That gave us green bases. Green. Fucking GREEN. At this point I feel like a man dying of thirst in the desert, hoping and praying for any drop of water I can get. I've come to detest the lunar events because I know it's more of the same: things I don't like. I collect, take part, apply the bases etc not because I want too, but because I feel forced. The bases are special, so I can maybe breen T3s from them, make some money from selling some things etc. The market is so oversaturated with blue glowy thingies I can't tell 1 from the other anymore. I'd die for a silver, white or gold base... I told myself I'd give myself to the end of this year, and if the game hasn't improved, then I'm gone. So in a last ditch attempt to save my sanity and keep playing, this idea sounds like one of the best so far! |

For example, have golden encounters/items during real-life summer months, red ones during real-life autumn months, silver ones during real-life winter months, and green ones during real-life spring months. Or perhaps different color themes depending on which real-life moon phase (new, 1st quarter, full, 3rd quarter) lands during the Lunar event, as where it lands shifts slowly, though much slower than seasonally. And of course in general decors that go more naturally with the non-event decors would also be welcome. My pack is pretty natural-looking at the moment, so it's rare I have a purpose for Lunar decors as it is, even though I like them. |
