Event: Cataclysms

Yeah, it seems to be bugged for Merged, just isn't showing up at all. So it's bugged in a different way for both Merged and Kinfolk; I'd like to hear from someone who's Independent now, see if everything's working alright on their end. Made a report about the missing Dingbat. Once again, please don't comment unless you have something significant to add! (It will notify everyone.) |

New achievements motivate players for cryptid search. There's an achievement for each biome that helps tracking where are still cryptids to discover but also those who find only part of cryptids by the end of the event, presumably due to some biomes still being unavailable, don't end up completely unrewarded. I feel it could've been an inspiration taken from this thread. Cryptid enemies reward players who have cared about their leads stats. Every cryptid enemy is around the lead's level which gives no reason to avoid them for stat breeders as all of those have a chance of dropping various stats, including sought off speed and smarts, despite strength and agility still being in majority of them. These enemies are really varied, with various buffs and debuffs, that sometimes makes it worth to tweak our usual optimal strategy - for example it's always better to chase prey opponents like Goatman instead of focusing which we normally adjust to most enemies. Exclusive for this event explore encounters need a lot to be desired regarding how those are described - some of the rewards resulting from those encounters are mostly unrelated to the main action performed. When knowing possible scenarios (which can be read here), the difference between reward and no-reward outcomes is a fillter text - for example, we follow photographers, keeping a safe distance, finding nothing interesting, going away OR we follow photographers, keeping a safe distance, finding nothing interesting, going away and eating a creature walking in the opposite direction (why would the creature walk toward humans?) The cryptid questing system is brilliant! So many decisions we can take regarding the questing and not talking only about picking a faction. We take a quest, skip it or complete it, then another one, one by one, we can focus on one faction for reputation or maximize Cryptid Scales gain, the more cryptids we discover the more quests we can take - with some limit, to favor focus on one faction and also give us many opportunities to skip. The quests can test us how actively we explore, how good lead we have for battling, if we have decent hunters (reopening old wounds: successful hunt quests!) and how great item supplies we have. Yes, item quests - the excess of the most common items which we've been storing in our hoards so far, finally started having some value. Not only we can use them for quests to get Cryptid Scales but also we can sell them to other players for much greater prices for the duration of the event - clean out the hoards! Moreover, the consumption of medicine also increased so some of us might've started crafting the variety of them including antidote which otherwise could've never been used. Finally we're encouraged to explore the whole Wolvden! The appearance of disasters and cataclysms in random biomes during random intervals connected with cryptids being only around the lead's level is an incentive to visit the variety of biomes instead of sticking to the favorite one for the most efficient way to boost stats for the lead. I've never expected Wolvden to have a disaster that I would like. So overall, from the gameplay perspective, Cataclysms presents itself as the greatest one and I hope I'll stay with this thought throughout the event. I may definitely share the admins enthusiasm for this event!! |
