I hope they keep the custom decor art restrictions rather strict (however from some comments here it definitely sounds like the submitting/approving process could use some streamlining). The high quality art on wolvden is one of its major selling points, and should be preserved. Custom decor become site items just like any other items, and should be held to the same standard. Introducing items with an inconsistent art style and quality might give the impression of a lower site art quality overall, as it's not obvious which decors are official or custom when just looking at a wolf image. An uneven art standard for custom decor would probably make me buy less custom decors, as I'm not interested in wading through pages of sub standard decors to find those that follow the WD style. If they do start approving more "Not wolvden art-style"-decor I hope we get an account setting/option to hide all custom decors on all wolves we view. Then players would have the option to play a version of the game where only official WD art show. I would not like to see custom backgrounds become a thing ever. |

As a game developer this is more than natural and I assume that it is incredibly much work to check the custom decors and the style "match" to the game style. However, I see it like Alibird. If one already says "uniform" then no difference should be made here. But the difference is there. Both in oficeller kind (example of Alibird) And the following example: This horse looks like a plastic toy and there are several anatomical errors in it. It is hard for me to understand that this horse is considered as oficell artwork, but with very good custum decors from me and other artists because of many small things a revision is demanded. In general I follow a lot of conversations about the CD's and read a lot. It is fascinating how differently the individual artists are treated. Some decor that looks so fantastically realistic has to be reworked because of small things and other pixelated decors, or shadow errors or anatomy errors come through. There is often a double standard here and if you look at all the decors you will see what I mean. As I said I understand that it is very very much work and take my hat off to it. But if it is evaluated so differently then maybe a relaxation should really be made. Also because it relieves the art team! |
