Feedback Request: Traveling Wolves

Posted 2022-10-11 21:56:18
I was meaning more of a 'Send Traveler Home' button that the hosts can use, like the owner's recall. So it functions the same from both ends, sending the wolf back to the owner at any time. If they mentioned a Send Home feature in the main post and I managed to miss it, don't mind me lol. :'v

I don't have an issue with what the main post proposes, it seems like they've put a lot of thought into it first before addressing it. I love the whole asking for suggestions and opinions thing before adding something, it's great seeing everyone's stances on topics like this. I hope they keep doing this kind of conversation for big, potentially controversial changes! Helps to get it ironed out in a way that is less likely to need tweaks afterwards.

And I hope things are going (and continue to go) well for you too, Fangx. ^^

This sounds fantastic! I'd held off on joining in on traveling wolves, but once the update is implemented I will happily join in :D

I don't have the time to read up rn but I was thinking about the breeding issue and the only solution is to have the pups to stay with the mother until she goes back to her original owner, even if they're weaned. OR, they're somehow automatically sent to the owner of the traveller when they wean. If the pups belong to the one who bred them, the owner can take the wolf back before theyre weaned and the breeder will be sad, and the only solution to that would be to restrict the actual owners access to their own wolf, which is not a good solution at all. Just make it clear that any pups you breed using this female will be going with the female back to the owner. "But what if I use my own resources etc" then that's on you. Like, don't use an elk heart and a pair bond to your finest male with a wolf that you know will be taking her pups with her back home, if you don't trust the owner. If someone wants the pups they'll have to negotiate with the females owner.
Travelling females also shouldn't be able to be bred by hosts to outside studs, only to the hosts stud or in a pair bond. Only the owner should be able to breed with outside studs. This eliminates the "But I paid for the stud" argument.
Travelling males don't have the same complications, their pups obviously stay with the mothers.
I definitely think that if breeding is allowed it should be a toggle, because then people who don't want the pup situation at all can just turn it off.
This is the least complicated way, I thought before to propose that the pups can wean and then stay in the pack they were bred in, but obviously people will just find ways to fight over the pups.
The "unweaned pups can go to another female" thing is something I wanted to see with the pup adoption feature, and I think it's too much workย  to be implemented in this feature tbh unless it's going into other more important features later, so this would be a test run of sorts. But idk.

If a female is bred, the pups belong to the females owner, whether the traveller is the female or is a male. Simple

Late to the party, but here's my two cents.
I don't play the Travelling Wolf game. I support giving functions that help people who do play, but I would request a function for people who do not want to engage with the mechanic. Please add some way for us to not receive even the gift offers. Perhaps a Gift toggle for "allow Traveller Wolf gifts"?

While I personally have not been offered any Travelling Wolves, I know people who have been offered often, and sometimes people do not take no for an answer, attempting to send the same wolf as a gift again and again. Avoiding this would be really good.

This is a great idea!!! Honestly the only reason i only played the traveling wolf game once is because the decor i put on the wolf was taken and i was really sad about it, but that was a year ago tbh.

Breeding: It should be aloud
Pups stay with who: Once the female is breed her pups belong to whoever breed her. if the original owner tries to reclaim her, the pups get weaned automatically.

Pups shouldn't wean automatically. That feature could be abused. The wolf should either be impossible to recall during that time or unable to breed at all. Perhaps letting users pick which they want for their travelers would be best

Maybe breeding could be an optional toggle that you use after a discussion between wolf owner and wolf host? You could decide what to do with pups (if your travelling wolf is female), or studding fee, or whether your wolf could have a temporary pair-bond with a shorter cooldown but still have the breeding chance...then either toggle it on or leave it off. Wolf stay could be determined by age and or breeding decisions, after owner and host have reached an agreement. Then it could be put in a timer section, and count down.
