You decided to take the right route, hoping to warm your hands by a nice fire. The closer you got, the more you could hear what sounded like voices. As you entered a clearing, you saw that you were correct: sitting in a little circle around a bonfire was a group of teenagers.

Some were drinking what you thought was soda, others were chattering excitedly about some new movie. One, a guy with black hair, looked at you and stood up, leaving the two others he was in an intense argument with.

"Hey, who are you?" he asked. When you answered, the boy smiled. He seemed happy for company- even if it was a stranger- and he gestured to the group. At this point, most of the other teenagers had looked over to you, and it was at this point you realized they must have been older than you thought. Some had grey hair, others had faint wrinkles, and many had little companions poking out of their pockets who looked much too old to have been caught recently.

You decided not to join everyone and instead stood away at the tree line, arms crossed on your chest in a protective manner. The guy decided to stick with you. He told you his name, Quinn, and what they were doing there.

"Every year, there's a Bearling migration. This year, me and my pals," he gestured to the group, "decided to follow along behind them. I don't know where they go, but I'm told it's super cold and really pretty. At least, that's what my father said once."

Curious, you asked him about the place. You had been unaware Bearlings migrated, and were a little skeptical considering you had seen them burrow in winter.

"Oh yeah, it's only one subspecies. They're bigger than the others and are only found up North, on an island a little out from the beach. They go South for the winter and cross over these mountains. We're not too far away. Here, this should help you befriend one if you ever find one." After handing you a bag filled with berries, you two talked some more. Finally you decided to leave as it was growing dark.

Pulling yourself through the snow, you gave an exhausted huff. It hadn't been nearly as bad the other day, right? Shaking the thought out of your mind, you paused to look around you. Somehow it seems you had managed to stray from the path while thinking.

Looking around, you saw nothing familiar. No landmarks, no signs, no people. Just snow and bare trees.
