You rushed to the safety of the cave, pulling your jacket tighter around you. The wind howled as you ducked inside. It had been fine just a few minutes earlier; what had changed?

Walking towards the back of the cave, you looked down to check your companions. Though appearing ruffled, the two gave small chirps of reassurance to let you know they were okay. The larger one, the forest female, began grooming the other. They were safe now.

Exhaling in relief, you wandered to one wall and slid down. Resting your head on the surface behind you, you let your eyes shut. Chittering- a different voice than your companions- suddenly began from nearby. It sounded aggressive, like a warning.

Cautiously you opened your eyes and looked around. Nothing, nothing, nothing... aha! Somewhat hidden behind a nearby rock you spotted the figure of a Bearling.

Realizing it had been found, the small creature let out a growl, ears pinned back. It crouched defensively and bared its teeth, at which point your two companions took notice. They hissed in response, only quieting when you comforted them with soft hushes and gentle talking.

Sufficiently quieted, you turned your attention back to the wild Bearling. It had a strange pattern and something you had never seen before- growths protruding from its head.

Reaching for the bag on your hip given to you by an acquaintance- you can't quite recall his name. Quincey? Lynn?- you opened the pouch and grabbed a handful of the ripe, juicy berries. Extending your hand to the Bearling, you watched it slowly approach.

You had never seen a Bearling such as this one. It sniffed your hand delicately, it's large nose wet on your skin. Taking hold of one berry, it opened its mouth to reveal flatter teeth than those of your own. As it munched, you pondered where it had come from.
