The blind wolf sat down on a fallen log, gently grooming the blood from his paws. He kept his ears pricked up in case something came near, but sensing nothing, he began to devour the red grouse he'd just caught. Easy prey, he mused, enjoying the carcass. Even though he was a blind loner, probably the worst thing to be (besides perhaps a blind loner pup), Roan had never truly gone hungry. He had been hungry in the past, but never starving. With his sharp ears and excellent nose, he could find prey rather easily. Not hungry enough to completely finish the carcass, Roan stashed the remains in the hollow log. He'd eat it tomorrow, for breakfast. These thoughts in his head, Roan rolled over and stretched, yawning. He knew he was pretty close to a pack's territory, but he didn't have much to worry about. He was pretty good at talking to other wolves, once his stupid brain got over the initial shyness. What did that pack call themselves…? Firey pack? Flamethrowers? Divine Fire Falling From Above to Strike Invaders? Roan snorted in amusement at the last thought, slowly falling asleep inside the hollow log. "Goodnight," he whispered to himself, trying not to feel lonely. "Sweet dreams." |

Padding over to the entrance, he decided to patrol what he had already scouted out. Perhaps he missed something of importance last time, or...ah, whatever. The real reason he was heading back out was to avoid being dragged into conversations over unimportant things. Like that one discussion with a packmate about what flower color was the most beautiful during the summer. It wasn't like he always disliked conversation and never sought to engage in it, per se, he just liked it to be more...logical. Besides, he could always use some time alone on these walks, they helped him relax. Well, as long as he didn't end up running into other packs' wolves or other dangers. He trotted out, pausing and looking behind him to make sure he wasn't being called over or chased down by another pack member for something before continuing on his way. [[Disregard the fact canines can't see as many colors and therefore wouldn't be talking about flower hues lmao]] |

Just as he was drifting into a shallow sleep, Roan heard a noise nearby. His ears shot up, as did his head. He imagined he looked quite silly, but who was he to talk about looking. Perhaps Roan looked dashing with his head held high and alert. He wouldn't know. |

Padding along at a leisurely pace, he sighed. Or made a sound similar to sighing, at the very least. Looking around, he spotted nothing out of the ordinary, and...Wait a minute. Trespasser! He quickly tensed up upon noticing the loner. Of course, he just HAD to deal with an outsider while trying to take his mind off things. He watched the other for a moment in silence, who seemed to be staring at...not him exactly, but something near him. After glancing behind himself to ensure the stranger wasn't looking at some hidden danger, he turned his attention back to the other. For a brief moment, nobody said anything which made it quite awkward. Eventually, Lark decided to break the silence. "Outsider! You are currently in pack territory. I suggest you leave." Technically, the stranger wasn't, but technicalities were overrated. |

Roan tried his best to pinpoint where the other wolf was, swiveling his ears this way and that. Finally managing to see— well, hear— the exact location, he tilted his head and stared towards the other wolf with his pale milky eyes. "I-I don't think I am," he said quietly. Ugh, that stupid stammer! He hated it. "Or did I perhaps wander too far? It's quite difficult without sight." The last part was a blatant lie, however easy it was to believe. It was not at all difficult for Roan, at least, not his sight problem. Besides, territory was marked by scents, not sights. But it was a believable lie. Perhaps the pack wolf would think he was an idiot and leave him alone. |

Staring in surprise for a moment at the fact that this stranger was apparently completely blind, Lark wondered how he was even able to survive alone. Any animal that couldn't see would end up, at least from what he knew, dead. Yet this outsider seemed perfectly fine and capable, at least as capable as would be expected. That didn't really explain how he could've missed the territory's markings. You needed a nose for that, and it seemed like his was just fine. "...That doesn't explain why you're in pack territory, outsider. Do you have a better excuse? |

The odd wolf shrugged. "Not really," he said with a smile. "Usually my… disability gets me out of trouble more than it gets me into it." He tried to joke, stretching his paws and standing. Acting completely relaxed, he trotted around the other wolf. "Can I touch your face?" He asked suddenly, before wincing at how awkward that sounded. He apologetically added, "so… so I can tell what you look like, I guess." |

"No, you may not, outsider," Lark replied with a twitch of his upper lip. "If you need to know who I am you can rely on your nose." He then moved a few steps away from the other wolf, making sure to put himself in a position to defend himself if need be. |

Nodding, Roan tilted his head. "Sorry," he mumbled. His ears alert, Roan heard the other wolf change his posture. He was used to those sounds. "Don't think you can fight a blind wolf?" He teased, turning to leave. "Anyway, I was just getting food, and this isn't your territory." He playfully smiled before bounding away. "You can come if you want," he called with a wry grin. "Y'know, make some cool new non-sheltered friends. Aren't you bored of all the pack wolves?" |

Ugh! Yeah, technically, it wasn't Flame Pack territory. Didn't mean he was going to admit it. Lark watched the stranger lope off and after a moment, relaxed his posture. What a strange wolf. Oddly, though, even with his immense distrust of the outsider, there was a part of him that wanted to know how the loner had done so well on his own. Not out of wanting to be friends or getting along, but rather out of sheer curiosity. There was the very obvious and likely risk this stranger would end up just luring him into a trap, of course, and he wasn't the best at fighting, so if he was ambushed, he might just end up as vulture food. It was stupid, reckless, and risky, but...after debating with himself, he reluctantly decided to see what exactly the other wolf was doing and how they seemed to be able to survive out here. He hesitantly trotted after the stranger, fully expecting his curiosity to end up getting him in trouble, whatever that entailed. |
