Grace's eyes widened "I thought those were just stories...have you defeated a bison too?" She asked curiously. Moon Moon trotted out of her den "Apollo, shall I go hunt?" She asked the alpha. Apollo Apollo nodded "You can go with the hunting party I sent just now, Grace is with them too!" He said to her. Moon "Sure! I'll join them." She said as she trotted to the hunting party. |

Sun barked a dry, cracked laugh. "Bison don't live near this forest," he told her matter-of-factly. "Which is unfortunate. We always need more prey." Turning as he heard footsteps, he waved at Moon, giving her a respectful nod. "Hello, Alpha," he said calmly, his paw reaching to his necklace again. "Are you here to help us with the hunt?" His own tail waved gently as he glanced down at her. |

Moon wagged her tail as Sun greeted her "Hey Sun! It's great to see you! Are you leading this hunting party?" She asked the male. Grace Grace ran towards her mother and licked her nose "You never meet me!" She said to the alpha female "And who else would lead us? This grumpy male leads us, I wish you did it!" Moon "What did I tell you about respecting your elders!?" Moon growled "If you respect others, they will respect you too!" She turned to Sun "Would you mind if I lead?" She asked him. |

Sun sighed. "Are you sure you should be?" He asked, slightly concerned. "I wouldn't mind, but you've been under a lot of stress recently, with your largest pup's… difficult birth and having to take care of them." He tugged on his wolf-tail necklace again, a constant habit. "Of course, if you can instruct the younger ones while staying back, I would love for you to lead. Perhaps they would listen to you more than they listen to me." He gave Grace a glowering stare. "I'd like to do a bit of running myself— I need to stretch my muscles a bit more." Toyak As he said this, Toyak's eyes flitted to the lead hunter's muscular body, then up to Grace. Don't make him mad, she mouthed at her. |

Moon nodded "As you say! What will we hunt today? Elk?" She asked Sun. Grace Grace stood closer to Moon "Hunting elk is easy for him! He killed a bull elk alone!" She said to Moon. Moon Moon raised her eyebrows "You remember it? You were so young at that time!" She asked Grace. |

Sun also raised his eyebrows at Grace. She was an odd wolf, constantly switching between disrespecting him and singing his praises. He nodded respectfully at Moon. "I smelled a covey of grouse somewhere that way," he said, jerking his head at the forest. "Toyak and Atila caught an elk cow earlier, which may have spooked the herd. And that should be enough for about two meals for each wolf." He stretched, pressing his feet into the grass. "I'm sure some smaller prey would be better this time; Toyak seems a bit tired." Toyak The adolescent's head had been drooping, but she quickly snapped it up. "Not tired!" She said with a testy grin. "I'd love to catch some birds though!" |

Moon sniffed and caught two different scents- one of the grouse and the second of a beaver "How about a beaver? It is bigger than a grouse. We can even hunt both! Sun and Grace, you both can hunt the beaver. Toyak, follow me!" With that said, Moon followed the grouse scent and saw the bird eating something on the ground "Show me what you've learned." She whispered to Toyak. Grace "Mother not with-" Moon had already vanished, Grace turned to Sun "Guess it's just us here. Will you lead the way or shall I?" She asked the male. |

Toyak smiled. Crouching down, she pounced on the feathered creature, biting deep into its neck. She tussled with the creature for a moment before killing it. She was quite surprised at her success. Spitting blood and feathers out of her mouth, she looked up at Moon, with a look that said, are you proud of me? Sun Sun pressed his scarred lips together in a straight line. He padded towards the river, crouching as he spotted the beaver. He glanced at Grace. There was a tangle of wood on the river, the beaver's dam, surely. It might be a bit hard to maneuver for a large wolf like himself, but he decided to try anyway. Leaping out of the bushes with a snarl, he quickly slammed his paws onto the beaver, digging his claws in. He'd killed it without drawing a single drop of blood. "It'll rot less quickly if it doesn't have an open wound," he informed Grace, carelessly tossing her the carcass. |

Moon carefully looked as Toyak killed the grouse then examined the carcass "You are better than my expectation! You'll be one of the best hunters in our pack! But remember, try to get as close as possible to your prey, it'll increase your chances of a successful hunt!" Moon took a deep breath "This carcass will rot in a few days because of its open wound. Remember, a carcass with an open injury rots quicker than a carcass which has no open wounds!" She gave Toyak a lick "Now let's take it back to the pack!" She said as she lead Toyak to the camp. Grace Grace quickly catches the carcass then put it down "I am not a young pup! I know how to hunt!" She said to Sun then grabbed the carcass "Let's go back to the pack!" |
