For those of you who don't know, this is the full "Marking Deviation" section of "Grouse House Genetics: Marking Guide" Some marking shapes may produce deviations, or mutations, from breeding. There is a small chance that certain marking shapes will mutate into different shapes within the same tier, but only if the original marking is a Tier 0 or Tier 1 marking. Markings will most likely only be able to mutate into a different marking with a similar name. For example, Cape mutating into Cape Ticking. Markings which don't belong in Tier 0 or Tier 1 will not have the chance to mutate. So, the Wings Heavy marking could not mutate into the Wings marking. A Tier 0 or Tier 1 Shepherd marking has a chance of deviating into a Shepherd Heavy marking. We know that Tier 6 includes Combo Markings (color combination) and some Deviations (shape changes). The rest of the information I've been able to find is copied below. ------------------------- Development Update 2: New Markings New custom markings: Cover (Black, Brown, Dark Brown, Gray, Red) + Auburn Combo New custom markings: Half Cover (Black, Brown, Dark Brown) (Cover & Half Cover are in the same group and might deviate during breeding!) Summary on Tier 6 markings (which include deviation marks) Detailed Marking Reference Combo markings, covered earlier in this guide, result when two compatible colors and at least one compatible shape are bred together. Deviation markings, also covered above, can appear randomly when a wolf has a compatible marking. Other than this, nothing. No one has research published. So I'm setting up a spreadsheet thingy to maybe collect data maybe. Or just be a nuisance. Or both. I don't think anything else related to the wolf other than the shape/tier of the marking will matter here. Only add tier 0 or tier 1. Don't worry about if you breed a mark and get a blank slot. We already know the probability of that. Or, rather, people older and probably smarter than me figured it out and I copied their work. Marking Passing Genetics (from Grouse House Detailed Genetic guide) If only one parent has a marking in a specific slot, the puppies have a 50% chance to obtain that marking. Here's my current spreadsheet. It's not done yet, but you can get an idea of what kind of things I'm looking for. I'm looking for, when a marking is passed, the probability any specific marking will deviate in shape. Therefore, I need data from both boring, and interesting litter results. Too much information is better than too little, so go nuts if anyone wants to help. Spreadsheet |
