Wolvden: New beginnings

A small frown fell upon her face. She's so much like her.. She thought to herself, watching the wolf eat. *She even adorns a herb crown, huh..* Berry Bark sat down with a sigh, a sombre expression on her face as she was lost in thought. Her friend was a traveling herbalist, found by her mother who had died a few months ago. She would frequently visit the pack, and was treated with high respect like an alpha whenever she stopped by. How time flies.. Berry Bark looked up at the sky. It was late afternoon. The she wolf sighed, looking back at Anise. |

Looking up as Berry Bark sighed, Anise gave her a concerned look. "Are you all right?" She asked gently, hesitating for a moment before placing her paw on Berry's. Anise knew that emotional wounds could hurt just as much as physical ones… but they didn't heal with a sip of medicine. She could listen, though. And most often the hurt wolves would feel better after sharing their woes. |

"Oh- it's nothing!" She replied with a smile, gently moving her paw from the female's. "You just remind me of an old friend, that's all." She then got up, heading back over to the carcass to tear a piece off for some of the cubs. "Since you are a traveling herbalist, you're free to join me back in my pack." She gave a friendly smile through a muffled voice thanks to the meat chunk in her mouth. |

"O-oh, really?" Anise said with a smile. She dipped her head. "Thank you. It's been a while since I last stayed at a pack." She took a few more chunks from the carcass, trying to avoid the rotting bits, and carried it in her mouth as she tilted her head at Berry Bark and followed her. |

"No problem!" She spoke in a cheerful tone, beckoning the herbalist to follow as she was padding off in the direction of her pack territory. It wouldn't be a long walk, but it would take a few minutes to get there. Padding through the rolling hills, the female eventually made it to a crater that had been filled halfway with lava rock. Berry Bark bark dropped the chunk of meat, approaching the edge of the dirt before it descended down into the crater. The brown pelted she dipped her head before picking back up the meat. A cluster of Cedar trees was up ahead, which had told her that they were close to the territory the pack occupied. "C'mon, we're almost there!" (I'm balancing between watching Naruto, an offsite RP that has rammed up in activity a while ago, and this RP so sorry for slow responses) |

Giggling through the food in her mouth, Anise nodded and followed. She poked the lava rock with a curious expression, wondering if plants would grow there. She leapt up and gazed at the trees. With one claw, she poked at the tree, taking a bit of bark and tucking it away before the other wolf could notice. (Haha no problem ^^) |

Berry Bark made her way in the tree clusters. There were burrows under most of the trees. Some seemed large, while others were smaller. "Most of the pack is resting right now, but I do have some hunters that should be returning soon!" She looked back at Anise. "I'll make sure they don't bother you much." She chuckled, knowing most of her hunters were a rowdy bunch, like adolescents. She then crawled into a burrow, her tail swayed to the side for the female to follow. The burrow had the heavy stench of herbs, and a female timber wolf sat in the back of the den sorting herbs. "Oh, hey Berry." The brown pelted herbalist looked back at the two. "Who's this?" She tilted her head, her nose pointing to the unknown wolf. "This is.. Anise, was it?" She smiled at the dark pelted female next to her. "This is Cece, herbalist of the Galactic Ones." She proclaimed proudly, tail swaying slightly. "Maybe you two will become acquainted with each other?" The timber herbalist let out a sigh, giving a small smile before turning back to the herb storage. The inside of the den was carved out to create dirt shelves, and Cece used them to help place and sort herbs. |

Anise's head swiveled around, taking in all the sights and smells. Her eyes twinkled as she waved. "Hello, Cece! This place is amazing!" Anise said with a giggle. She hesitated for only a moment before following Cece inside, immediately starting to fawn over the herbs, sniffing and muttering at each one. "You have so much," she whispered, her eyes shining. "What's this one?" She pointed to a plant with a long green stem and tiny pinkish-purple flowers. (It's wood betony. Sorry that was slow, I was on a walk lol) |

"Ah, it's wood betony if I remember correctly." She chuckled at the wolf's enthusiasm. "My grandmother told me these herbs weren't of these lands, but they are still useful to us." Cece looked through the herb shelves, taking out a white clover. "These herbs we give as gifts to other packs, since they make nice decorations. They even give food more flavor!" The timber she wolf grinned, tail swaying slightly. Berry Bark - Same Territory Berry Bark smiled, glad to see Cave Crawler smile for once. She left the two herbalists to their own devices and crawled out the burrow. She padded off deeper into the Cedar tree cluster, climbing into a more exposed burrow from the largest of the cluster. It was her den, of course, and she went inside to sit down. Now with time to herself, Berry decided to clean her fur after a "long" day of tussling with coyotes. (Sorry I'm being so slow to reply, I've been busy lately ) |

"Wow, it smells great," Anise said, separating one of the tiny flowers with her sharp claws and studying the inside before moving on to sniff at random roots and leaves. "I guess it must be easier to gather herbs when you have a base camp. Do you want to exchange recipes? I have a few rare ones… although you probably know most of them already." Anise giggled a little, squirming to get her herb bag off her. "I've been low on herbs for a while, but I can still…" she paused while she arranged the herbs, making piles of seemingly random flowers and roots and bark. She began pointing at them, listing off what she could make with them. "Those herbs'll make tapeworm medicine. That one helps with small injuries, and this one larger injuries. This one heals coughs and fevers, and over there is heatstroke remedy. That one takes forever," Anise laughed. "Then there's this for ear-mites, this for ticks, and this one helps with general infections. Parasites suck. Umm… yea, I think that's it." (( so sorry, forgot about this >< )) |
