Maple half smiles and says " thanks, not a lot of people aren't willing to do something like that. " there's a long moment of silence before Maple continued "I don't remember to much from then, I know that mom and dad never got along, and I know that they were cheating on each other... Mom started cheating on dad when I was 5, dad didn't start cheating on mom until the last couple of months he was with us... ... Then one day, he gave mom divorce papers and said 'you can keep the house, the kids and the car, I'm leaving.' And then he was gone... ... I haven't seen or heard from him since... Marcus claims that dad still talks to him once a month, which isn't hard to believe since dad liked Marcus more than me since the day we were born.. Mom never remarried but she has a boyfriend named Jimmy..." Maple shivers and adds " I don't like Jimmy... "

Kaz raised his eyebrow and stopped "Did Jimmy do something to you?" he had asked more concerned now

Maples face turns red and she whispers "it's nothing serious, no need to worry..." She is no longer willing to make eye contact and states at the ground looking slightly scared

Kaz turned and cupped Maple's face forcing her to look at him while still being gentle, "No, what happened?" he asked once more

Maple closes her eyes and says in a whisper so quiet that it's almost inaudible "he hurts me... He's usually drunk... He encourages mom to hurt me... Never thought she would ever listen to him, but she does... I've gotten used to it... Jimmy's been around for a couple years..." Maples eyes pop open and she says ( still whispering) "I've got a job and money saved up, enough to stay at the dorm... Lately Jimmy's been looking at me in a strange hungry way and I don't like it... I've decided to leave but i- I'm not sure what to do..."

Kaz gently hugged Maple tight "You're staying the night. No arguments" he whispered softly in her ear before leading her back to the dorms

Maple smiles weakly and whispers "yuh know, that's the first hug I've had since... Since... I don't know when! And despite the fact that it was touching... I actually liked it!" Her smile looks slightly happier when she thinks about what Kaz is doing for her.

Maple smiles "actually no... I hardly eat anything and I've got a few granola bars in my bag that'll last me for awhile!"
