The Problem:Currently, level 20 lead wolves technically continue to earn EXP from fights and quests, but this hard-earned reward is lost to the void. This has led some players to feel there's no point in exploring or battling once their leads reach this level, causing disinterest in the game. The Solution:Introducing: a new talent available in the Talent skill tree!Pack Mentor * Distribute your lead's earned EXP to your Pack. Lead stops gaining EXP themselves. ** icon taken from existing talent "Strong Bonds" for demonstrative purposes, keep reading for why. The concept for this Talent is that your lead wolf, having grown wise through their adventures, is especially talented at passing down their knowledge and experience to the pack. This allows the skills and insights they have gained to benefit the entire pack, fostering the education and training of young wolves and driving generational progress forward. Sorta inspired by Pokemon's EXP Share functionality, this allows the EXP that the Lead would earn (and not benefit in any way from) to be distributed to their pack/a specific wolf (who can benefit) instead. Ideas on its Function:I have brainstormed multiple ways this idea could be implemented. Please let me know which Idea/Option combination you feel is the most balanced -- or if you have another suggestion. Idea A: Every time your Lead fills its EXP bar to "level up"....
If the established pattern is followed, filling this level 20 bar could require 56,100 EXP, a considerable feat. Alternatively, for a smaller bar and reward, it could follow Dżanek#24018's suggestion, where every 200 EXP received by the lead grants each pack member 1 EXP, as an example. After the reward is distributed, the lead's EXP bar—regardless of size—will reset, allowing the process to be repeated infinitely as long as the Talent is active. It's important to ensure that the effort, time, and cost required to fill this level 20 EXP bar is balanced with the reward so it feels neither underwhelming nor overpowered. Idea B: Alternatively to the above, upon earning any amount of EXP in battling/finishing a quest/etc:
So, instead of first filling up an entire EXP bar, Idea B would result in the EXP being rewarded immediately to a wolf (or the pack) after each instance of EXP gain by the Lead. This would result in a much smaller but more frequent reward. Same as before, balancing is key. How to Obtain the Talent:Idea A: Standalone talent on the tree. Keep it simple.
I hope this solution is balanced, as it's not a 1:1 transfer of EXP/stats earned. It would be nice if all that EXP could benefit our packs in some way, even in small amounts. The goal is for this Talent to provide enough incentive to encourage players to explore again, without disrupting the game's balance or significantly disadvantaging those without the Talent. I believe this suggestion would require Artwork (for the new Talent's icon) and Coding. Thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any feedback to improve this idea. |

For every 200 EXP received by the lead, every pack member receives 1 EXP. Stops the lead from gaining EXP. It means that pack members can gain 0.5% rounded down EXP that the lead receives during battle. It would be optimal to take it when the lead has level 20 due to the downside of the talent not affecting at all but it wouldn't stop the player from choosing this talent when the lead have lower level even though it means that the lead can't progress and level up anymore. Also, it would be cool for testing purposes in my case, since I'm collecting data from wolf enemies level 21-24, which is only possible with lead level 16-19 respectively, and I'd be able to do so without intentionally fleeing battles or avoiding quests to prevent leveling up. |
