The Stat Ceiling Is Still There, Still Kinda Low, And Still A Problem

There's hardly any incentive to bother breeding wolves for the stats, because the stats of the resulting pups is always so insanely low compared to the stats of the parents. |

I think I've nevee supported a forum in the Game Development more. Yes, yes, and yes. I'm probably gonna write a long paragraph now, and I'm probably repeating what others have said (I've read 'til the end of the 2nd page), but I still want to raise my voice. I'm currently on In-game Year 22 on Wolvden, with my 5th lead, Cortyrnix. He's the first I'm ever doing lead stat grinding with. I have never spend any IRL money in this game and I don't plan to do so; my main reasons for doing this were first to accomplish something in this game and celebrate it, and the other one was to prove that you actually can accomplish goals in games without spending IRL money for it. So, what have been my observations -only regarding stats- now? First off, I want to say that Cortyrnix isn't even two years old yet, so I haven't had that much experience at this point. My goal is to get him past 2000 stats, and I have to say, it is a lot of work. I just calculated his total stat gain (in my brain, please have mercy), and -oh my, I forgot it already- I hink it was either 196 or 210 (just through battling). Did I enjoy it? Actually, I really like to see him gain stats and coming a tiny bit closer towards his goal everyday - however, it makes me sad to know that none of that will stay. I will probably make him immortal out of personal pride, but his pup won't really mean anything. He is a G2, and I bought his parents when they were young and prepared a whole Wolvden generation for this. And even if his pups are going to be wanted, in 3 or 4 generations, they will just be some 500 stat pups (depending on who the parents were, the stats might of course be lower or higher) with a 'too high gen', that are probably mostly T2 or T1 and nobody will care. I only write short stories and don't spend a lot of time working to bring lore on paper, however, I do roleplay with my wolves quite a bit, no matter if it's in my head or with other people, and I think a lot of lore. When I started the game, I got some cheap 400+ stat wolves on the TC, and I am still proud to have keepen the lines that are REALLY ancient alive, even if it's just one pup at the end of the very last litter of a wolf that I then pairbond with someone or breed to a random stud; these wolves have history. I remember getting my first badger, that was also my forst ever T3, and feeling like I've gotten a really, really good wolf. Though I didn't keep any pups (I then saw that nobody would care for random G8 badger pups with 400 stats), I bought two badgers again now which, with a lot more experience, start a real line now. Husky-eyed badgers with a creme or gray looking pelt and OKAY stats, and I really love my two beginner badgers Fanaile and Stormcloud, but I know that even if there grandchildren would once have 600 birth stat pups, who would care? Like, I would be proud of my line, but disappointed at the same time because I could see that it isn't reaching anything better. After a few generations always picking one pup of the very last litter of a wolf, I've found myself with Kettu, my third-best chaser, and still under 4 years old. Her great-grandparents Foxy and Stone'Jump both had (for the wolves of a newbie) alright stats, and her daughter Mango was born with like 550 or something. I bred Mango to my second breeding male, and their daughter Vulpes -Kettu's mother- was bred to a stat with (I don't remember the exact number), something above 1300 stats. I don't wanna complain, Kettu had nice birth stats, but not much higher stats than her grandmother Mango, who had parents with quite a lot lower combined stats than Kettu's parents did. And even if I don't remember correctly, there are still plenty of other people out there who can probably show real evidence, like many people here did. I don't want Wolvden to become stat-crowded like Lioden with having 10k stats being not THAT spectacular, all I'm asking for is that people who have spend a lot of effort in their wolves, and often money, should be rewarded with pups that you can really look down on and say "Aw, you little potato are going to go places, no matter if you're already G5" So, yeah, support. I kinda doubt it, but I hope Wolvden will listen at some point in the future that's hopefully not, like, 5 years away or something. I wish you all the best with your lines, leads, pack wolves and goals in general! |

But I fully support. I went on the stat train until you find out that its a pay to win luxury (Nothing against people who do). I might have in the beginning but I ethically disagree in paying for this game for obvious reasons. However, I do chase achievements that the devs put into the game. One of those achievements is "Have a pup with 400 in one stat", and "Have a pup with 200 stat in each slot". I tried my hand with "high stat" wolves and I couldnt break the 750 barrier. For 200 in each stat, you will need to have a pup born with 1000 stats. Times have changed and Mavric pushed to higher levels so now it IS possible to get a 400+ stat pup, or 200 from each pup. However... If it wasnt for Mavric busting over $7k, there is no other wolf that can help you get that achievement. (No shade to Mavric) But studding to their prices is bites hard. I scoured through many pages of wolvden and EVERY pup I crossed has Frostwalker as a direct breed (None with frostwalker as 2nd even). I think the devs put this as a "long term plan" but it doesn't even translate well by generations. There is no loop outside of Pay2Win. I agree that pups should have a percentage loss so that you put in your own work to level them up. But you don't even get a chance. As I've said, I have not yet seen a non-direct studded pup off Mavric. |

I also tried Lead Stat Grinding, and I love my lead, but it's really cost-y. I still have a few hundred GC lying around from Chased NBWs and amusement I've sold (I don't buy much for GC), but am really hesitant to use those for Guarana. For 100 GC, I get 20 Guarana, which honestly wouldn't give me that many stats (depending on my luck, something between 15-25). For 100 GC, I could also request FrostWalker as a stud. My lead getting ~20 stats more doesn't really mean anything, except maybe that I feel like I've achieved a bit more. It won't change the stats of his pups noticeably. If I would request FrostWalker as a stud, I'd at least get pups I can actually get achievements with and maybe start a line. But even those stats would drop drastically with the next generation, so, what? I've tried stat breeding with one of my lines, and the pup's birth stats do increase, but not much. The litter I just had had like 10 birth stats more than their parents. We really need more people on this thread, even though I'm not sure if that would change anything. |

The stat ceiling for a F2P player seems to roughly kick in around the 2300 stat mark. That's only using free guarana. Unless you're willing to interject 3000+ studs who ate guarana from then on, your pups will stagnate. |

Her pups were born today, and the highest stat pup of her litter only has 635 points in total. I know the stats she acquired during pregnancy probably doesn't count, but that's still not even half of her birth stats. That's ridiculously low, especially considering their father also has over 1000 in total, meaning the two parents had at least 2500 in total stats, at the time of breeding. I mean, it's relatively high compared to most pups in the Enclave. But the bar for puppy stats is super low anyways. |
