Yea, same here. It would have been SO epic to claim them - even if it was a randomised, more-or-less common wolf, it'd still be so special. Packs could be restarted for the sake of building lore with that wolf, it'd be a footing for so much story material.

I agree that I'd really love the idea of taking one of the wolves as a mate. As many others have stated, I feel like dates are a great opportunity for lore but it means nothing if they just disappear, which is made extra disheartening by the fact that the wolves have very saccharine lines and moments together.

I'd love if you could maybe buy some sort of item from the event shop (a letter or ring maybe?) as a way to "propose" to the wolf, who is then generated with the genetics of the NPC.

Yeah, that would be a great compromise! Some of the wolves have special genetics like tier III bases but they maybe could be replaced with more common tiers but similar colour? Same with eyes! Or they could be made infertile as to not give players good genetics too easily. A wolf just for the lore purposes!

Everything can be done with a bit of creative thinking.
Tier III wolves can be, say, unlocked by giving them their base applicator item (or just generally a special/event base applicator). Equal trade.
Marking can be randomised just stating "The wolf you claim might look a little different from their looks before - love is blind!" - that's literally one of explore encounters, a wolf dating coyote and not noticing it, because love is blind. 		Mad Hyena

Do I have to sacrifice befriend encounters in order to spread the word to 10 wolves?! If I remember correctly in the Coigreach event I was able to complete quests like that through other wolf/animal encounters while exploring. It took me longer maybe but I always made the requirement without potentially missing out on a chased wolf.
