Currently, the pack calls the Taiga their home.

Note: I currently do not have any "pack lore" in place as I prefer writing individual lore for each of my wolves.
Each wolf marked with the book icon in their footnote has their own lore if you're truly curious about the pack.

Summer // Year 7

Current Alphas
Alpha Ella & Alpha Varogathe

Offspring
No offspring currently from these two.

With spring ending and summer taking over the pack's territory, the Alhavenlan Pack situate themselves in the western side of their territory to more easily protect their den site due to the recent influx of puppies. A hunter or two is also expecting pups within the next few days so the pack has stuck close to minimize travel time.

Pack Researcher Journal

Finally! I've located the pack after they moved away from our research site in the mountainside. Thankfully, they didn't go too far but this new alpha female has definitely made the pack harder to track. I'm sure my team and I would've had a much harder time if we didn't manage to tag Ella and get a tracking chip on her. However, after spending a few days camped out here the pack is definitely looking well off and happy-go-lucky!

Additionally, very few wolves appear to be sick or injured and they are clearly protecting a lot of young puppies in their preferred den site too. Unfortunately, I believe Ella missed the primary breeding season as I haven't seen her acting motherly towards any of the pups so far. But, there's still a chance she may have some of her own later this summer or maybe early fall!

Autumn // Year 8

Current Alphas
Alpha Ella & Alpha Varogathe

Offspring
No offspring currently from these two.

With the arrival of Fall, the pack has begun to prepare themselves for another harsh winter and have situated themselves closer to the southern section of their territory in hopes to have an easier time tracking the elk herds that call the Coniferous Forest their home.

As far as hunts go lately, Team 2 has been struggling due to an influx of new hunters. The team's main stalker, Eshtarylin, has retired and since moved into the elder's den leaving Adhlea to take over her role with very little training. There has also been new chasers introduced to the team like Terys and Thalia however they've adjusted easily to their new roles.

Team 1 on the other hand has yet to replace any of their members and has been hunting regularly in the Coniferous Forest to aid in tracking the elk herds. The pack can only hope Team 2 can catch up in time for winter, otherwise it may get a lot worse for the pack this time around.

Pack Researcher Journal

We've managed to get the rest of our materials moved down here to our new research site yet we severely underestimated just how much this pack moves now. My team's had to go out and hang up trail cams just so we can track the pack's movement throughout the forest and observe the Alpha pair whenever they stay stationary for more than an hour or two. I grow more nervous about Ella's future litter as we get closer to winter. She still has yet to show any signs of pregnancy like digging or searching for a den and I sincerely hope she does not have the pups in the winter. The winter months are usually the hardest on the pack and it's not uncommon for some pups to not make it through the season. I can only hope this first litter will go easily and make it before winter hits.

However, the pack has begun to brace themselves for winter. They've moved south of den site and have situated themselves closer to their secondary hunting grounds in the Coniferous Forest. Team 1 seems to be leading the pack where the herds are located while Team 2 has hung back, apparently sulking from the recent failed hunts. Hopefully Team 2 will have enough time to train their newest hunters and catch up with Team 1's success rate before the caribou herds move away to the Tundra for winter.

Winter has slowly made it's way to the Taiga. The nights have grown colder within the forest and the common thunderstorm has shifted to a mixture of rain and snow. The pack however is well prepared for this upcoming winter and has had many successful hunts as fall wraps up.

Team 1 has successfully led the pack to their desired location where elk and bison herds are easily located, thus leading to a higher success rate for their hunts.

Unfortunately, Team 2 has had a much more difficult time. The caribou herds that the pack prefers to catch have moved northward, deep into the Tundra and out of their reach. In the mean time, Team 2 has settled for catching small rodents like weasels and stoats.

Pack Researcher Journal

It is a shame to see Team 2's hunters so defeated. Adhlea has been struggling to guide the team towards any large or medium sized prey lately and without proper guidance their finisher, Iron, has been struggling to time and land the killing blow on certain prey. We've even recorded a few disputes within the hunting party lately when a hunt goes wrong towards the end due to a wolf stepping out of formation and ruining the chase. We can only hope that Team 2's luck will come back when spring returns and the caribou herds with it.

However, as we near the end of fall, I've been observing more and more possessive behavior coming from Ella's Mate, Varogathe. Varo's not usually aggressive towards other pack members when they get close to Ella but this type of behavior is very common among other breeding pairs when the female mate is going into heat. So this is exciting news for my team and I! Hopefully we'll get to see pups from this pair soon and get some pictures of them as well! This winter may end up being a bit difficult but I just know that this litter of pups will help keep the pack in high spirits.

I'll write more soon once Ella shows signs of pregnancy and when we've located her den site! Until then, we wish the Alhavenlan Pack the best of luck!

Pups are on the way!

In a blink of an eye, winter has made it to the Taiga once more. The snow has been relentless but thankfully here in the forest, the snow is considerably lighter than it would be out in the plains of the Tundra. The pack has adjusted their hunting trails while the herds try to find a better wintering location where the snow isn't as dense.

As for the hunting teams, Team 1 has been quite successful in tracking the Bison and Elk herd who have shifted closer to the mountainside to avoid deep snow. However, they've been outsmarted a few times when the elk would rather swim through a frigid waterway than be hunted by the wolves. While Team 1 has been adjusting to the new weather, their success rate has fallen somewhat but they've still managed to bring back a few elk and bison carcasses for the pack.

Team 2 on the other hand has had a stroke of luck come their way recently! Lately they've been finding more small prey than their usual weasel or stoat. The team's finisher, Iron, has also been landing more successful killing blows on prey and they've even brought the pack home a few porcupines from their last outing.

However, there is some exciting news among the pack! Recently the alphas had gathered the pack around to break the news that Ella had not only been officially pair bonded with Varogathe but she was also expecting her first litter as well! The pack rejoiced at the news and the excitement has not died down. Four puppies might mean the hunting teams will need to bring back food more often but the pack cannot wait to see them. Ella has dug her new den at the most southern point in their territory and the pack returns there quite frequently to drop off carcasses for her. She'll need to keep her strength and stay healthy for her new pups!

Pack Researcher Journal

Okay! We've got a lot of news for this update!

To begin, we've observed Ella digging a new den at the southern part of their territory and it even looks like she's expecting puppies! My team and I have no clue how many she's going to have but we'll just have to wait and see! The pack seems to sense this and they've been frequently bringing her carcasses to eat throughout the day. Varogathe has even started to make sure other pack members are not stealing food from the carcass while Ella eats. She's going to need all the food she can get to keep her strength up and stay healthy!

In other news, Team 2 seems to be finally recovering from getting a new stalker. They've been recorded catching slightly larger prey like Porcupine and large rabbits while they're out. Team 1 on the other hand is adjusting to the snowy weather. They've had a small bit of bad luck with hunting Elk recently but we're confident they'll pick up the slack over the next few weeks as the snow gets deeper and more difficult for the Elk to traverse. Tired prey means easier hunts after all!

Lastly, my team and I have finally managed to map out the pack's territory and will leave it attached below this report! We even included the pack's current location in the map! That will be adjusted as we observe where the pack moves to in the future after winter passes. We also cannot believe that Ella's finally having puppies. My team and I are beyond excited and we will definitely send a team member out to get pictures and recordings of the little ones once they're born!

That's all for now though! I'll write more when the pups have been born!

It's now deep winter for the Alhavenlan Pack. Thankfully, the pack as a whole has done well this season. Very few wolves have been sick or injured and early this morning new members were introduced to the pack! Ella has given birth to 4 healthy pups. The pack was beyond excited to meet the new puppies and practically begged Ella to enter her den. A few select wolves have already seen the newborns but the rest of the pack has to wait until they're weaned until they see them.

However, as for the hunting teams, Team 1 has adjusted their hunting tactics for the winter months and have successfully brought back lots of Elk carcasses for the pack and new pups. They've especially excelled at tracking and hunting Bison recently as well.

As for Team 2, they seem to be catching back up! They've been bringing back a lot more Small carcasses like Porcupine and the works compared to the Critter trails they had been so fond of hunting earlier this winter. Hopefully they'll get back to hunting Large prey by the time spring arrives!

Pack Researcher Journal

We've got some exciting news today!

Early this morning, one of my teammates went out to record the pack's antics only to find out the Ella had given birth! We believe she's had 4 healthy puppies and we'll attach the litter report separately in another document. My team and I are so excited to see the little ones though! We cannot wait to get more footage of them when they're older and playing outside of the den more often. It's only a little while until they'll start opening their eyes and begin exploring this vast world around them after all!

As for the pack's hunting, Team 1 has been a lot more successful lately as the snow has grown deeper where the Elk and Bison herds chose for their wintering location. Team 1 has been spotted bringing back a lot more Elk carcasses and even a few Bison carcass is if they're lucky! As for Team 2, they seem to be working better as a unit now and have brought back lots of Small prey for the pack to eat. It seems like they're no longer hunting the critters like they had been since the start of winter but hopefully they'll be back to hunting Caribou and Elk when they return to the Taiga this spring!

Seems like it's a relatively small update this time around sadly but the pack is doing great this winter! We look forward to seeing more of the pups and hopefully we'll get some good footage of them as well. That's all for now though! I'll write more soon!

The Taiga springs to life with the change of seasons once more. The Elk and Caribou herds that the pack prefers hunting have returned finally to the Taiga with new additions to their own herds. The pack is now thriving. They've adjusted well to their new territory over the year and have become rather adept hunters when it comes to bringing down the toughest of prey.

As for the Alpha Pair, they've begun preparing for their pups to explore the world in the next few months. Once they're strong enough the two will have to move dens to get the pack closer to their primary hunting grounds. In the mean time though, they're stuck at their current den site until the pups are 2 months old so they no longer rely on the den for warmth.

For the hunting teams, both Team 1 and Team 2 have been thriving as of late. Prey has been plentiful and relatively easy to hunt. Occasionally Elk may put up a fight and escape but it doesn't take them long to find a better target. Team 1 has been bringing down plenty of Elk, Bison, and even Moose when they're able to. Team 2 on the other hand is still catching up but they've had many successful hunts lately!

Pack Researcher Journal

Spring is back finally! The pack has made it through another winter and it's clear just how much the pack has adjusted to their new territory. However, the pack hasn't been able to move closer to their primary hunting grounds since the alpha's pups aren't big enough to make the trek northward just yet. The pups will need to be at least 2 months old so they no longer rely on the den for warmth. Once the pups are big enough, alpha pair will use 6 to 7 smaller dens along the way so the pups may rest throughout the journey and nurse when necessary.

As for the hunting teams, both of the teams have been thriving lately. Sure, they might loose a few hunts due to some of the Elk putting up a stronger fight than they expected but it doesn't take them too long to find a new target. Team 2 has even managed to hunt a few medium sized prey recently but they still have a ways to go. Hopefully by the middle of spring, Team 2 will be back to normal! As for Team 1, they have become quite the formidable team. They've been bringing down Elk and even Bison during the winter months yet lately we've seen them take on moose! It's clear just how strong the bonds are between the Team 1 hunters are if they're capable of bringing down such large prey.

However, we do bring some unfortunate news. One of the Alhavenlan Pack members, Lailani, did not make it to see spring. She was a relatively old wolf though so she most likely died due to old age. Our records show that she was 7 years and 6 months at the time of death. Lailani will be missed though! The pack has mourned their loss as we heard their somber howls throughout the night after they discovered it.

Sorry to end on such a sad note but that's just how things are unfortunately. I'll write more when the pack begins to move northward toward their primary hunting grounds!

Spring // Year 8
4 days of spring left.

Alpha Ella & Alpha Varogathe

As the summer months grow closer, the Alhavenlan Pack prepares by moving deeper within their territory to remain close to their primary hunting grounds. Unfortunately, Team 2 hasn't been able to direct the pack toward any Caribou herds yet so Ella had the pack settle at a different den on the south-eastern side of the hunting grounds.

As for Team 1, their luck continues! They've continuously brought down many elk and bison for the pack to eat while they all wait on Team 2 to bring back some large carcasses. Team 2 on the other hand has not only struggled with locating larger prey but they've also seen an increase in ear mite infections. Thankfully the scouts were able to alert the herbalist to this outbreak and managed to stop the spread before it got too serious. This outbreak has slowed Team 2 down considerably but the pack still holds hope that they'll be caught up before the next winter.

Pack Researcher Journal

Well, by the looks of things this spring has been a rough one for the pack. There's been an increase of ear mite cases within the pack but thankfully they cleared up relatively quickly. The pack certainly doesn't desire a massive outbreak just yet considering Ella still has nursing puppies and if she were to fall ill or get any sort of infection those poor pups would be at high risk.

However, it looks like the pack has moved deeper into their territory towards their primary hunting grounds in preparation for summer and fall. Hopefully Team 2 will pull themselves together in bring in some caribou carcasses soon before it gets too cold for the herds to remain here in the taiga. Team 1 on the other hand is still the main provider of food for the pack as they've been bringing back lots of bison carcasses for the pack and young pups to feed on. Additionally, a lot of the pack's current hunters are getting closer to seniority and the pack may be forced to remove the old hunters in order to prevent poor hunts and even injuries. This might handicap Team 2 more but with some younger hunters, their luck might just take a turn for the better!

In other news, we've managed to get a clearer view of Ella's pups and all 4 of them appear to be strong and healthy! Most of the pups look a lot like their father, Varogathe, and it's clear his black wolf genes run strong. Hopefully they'll start observing the hunts soon to prepare them for their roles in the future!

That's all for now though! My team and I will keep a close eye on the hunting teams and I'll write more when there's more news about the pack.

Summer // Year 8
6 days of summer left.

Current Alphas
Alpha Ella & Alpha Varogathe

Offspring
Revanas, Eirlen, Irosylis, & Haleira

As summer arrives, so does the heat that seems to sap the very energy out of the pack. The Alhavenlan Pack can be found resting more frequently in between their activities and they seem to cling to their dens, reluctant to leave. However, the only ones not truly feeling the heat are Ella's young pups. They can be seen playing and exploring all throughout the day yet they only stop when someone brings them a small portion of a carcass to eat.

But unfortunately, this summer has not been all that kind to the pack. With the change of seasons, it had brought a small group of raiders. The wolves had struck during the night when the pack was asleep and attempted to get to Ella's pups. Thankfully, none of the youngsters were harmed but Ella did take the brunt of the attack before her pack realized what was happening and came to her aid. Ella now has a very torn up right ear and a bit of a limp but she seems to be doing better with each passing day!

In other news, both hunting teams seem to be doing well lately! At the end of spring, Team 2 managed to track and kill 4 various medium sized prey while Team 1 maintained their streak of hunting elk. Additionally, a few new wolves stepped up to take over the hunting roles when Nehnisa and a few other old hunters retired finally. Even the pack's beta male, Ithelan, stepped up to take over a finisher's role and he seems to be doing quite well.

Pack Researcher Journal

This summer is off to a crazy start, folks! To begin, while the pack was sleeping last night they were unfortunately attacked by a pack of 3 wolf raiders who made a very strong attempt to get into Ella's den. Thankfully, being the stalwart protector that Ella is, she was able to fend off these invaders before they got close to her pups. Unfortunately, she did not make it out of this fight without some injuries. Her right ear appears to be quite torn up and she seems to have a bit of brusing on her right leg since she's been limping a bit since the attack. Hopefully it won't take too long though for her injuries to heal. But her pups are safe and her mate, Varogathe, has stepped up to help whenever Ella's pain gets to be too much.

In other news though, the hunting teams are doing quite well as of late! A few new hunters had joined both teams after a few older hunters retired and these youngsters seem to be working well with the existing teams! Team 2 has been recorded bringing down medium sized prey at the end of spring with these new hunters so hopefully they'll continue this into the summer months! As for Team 1, this unit of a hunting party has continued to bring in elk and bison carcasses for the pack. Team 1 doesn't show signs of stopping this routine either! They've become quite the hunting powerhouse as of late and the pack is forever grateful for them.

Hopefully the rest of this summer will be uneventful for the pack! I can only hope there won't be another raid as Ella's pups grow older but who knows what might happen in the coming days.
