I like that Eranthis isn't a romance option. In an event surrounded by love, they're a nice reminder that a person - or in this case, a wolf - doesn't need to have a partner to feel complete. People can be happy and fulfilled without ever falling in love or even seeking it out, which is a sorely needed message that many people struggle with. We're all fed the idea that we need 'the one,' and Eranthis is an example that we can be okay without that.

Or it's a wolf game and I'm thinking too much into it lmaooo-

Big Yes!!!!!!!!! Everyone always pushes in the media that you wont / can't be happy without a partner but that's not always the case.

I'm grey-aro so I do understand that it's a spectrum, but it feels a bit awkward to me to have a npc be all "I have no interest in romance" but then allow for romance anyways. I think there's a decent chance any nuances would be lost. It's also nice to see that in addition to all these happy romantic wolf couples/polycules, there's also a happy wolf without a partner who is living their best matchmaking life. At least from my experience, there's lots of societal pressure in real life to have a partner/be in a romantic relationship/find your "other half"/etc., so having representation of the opposite is nice.

Edit: Didn't see Whirligig's comment until after I posted this and I agree with what they said

I love this update! Especially those decors that will be able to "add" database npcs to our pack! My sweetheart Oaken will stay with me <3

I have a question about the npc decors.... Im trying to woo all the npcs to the max. So far i have 4 npcs with full hearts, so this means i can get to choose which of the items should i get by the end? Or am I going to win 4 of them?  just curious....
