Why is this even a good idea? Why support? What are the pros? There are a lot of things that require GC in the game, like the pup stages and creating a group. I for one don't want to spend money in real life on a game and I've found it pretty difficult so far to actually get any. I've earned a couple from the TC somehow... but I don't really have anything to sell on the TC. There's raffles and that sort of thing, but those aren't very reliable the majority of the time. It would make the game a little more... shall we say... noob friendly. More people would have access to grove items, muties, and custom decors, which would help balance the game. I understand that this is sort of a 'grind game' but I still think that larger access is a good idea. It would also make immortalizing wolves a little bit easier. I know that a lot of people like fatal mutations- and who wouldn't, they're pretty cool! But, also, fatal... and the pups will die unless immortalized. This is a reason that a lot of wolves are immortalized- it's the only way to keep them. That's a major reason that GC is purchased. Probably the main reason that GC is purchased, though, is lair slots. People would likely still do this, as lair slots get pricier the more that you have. It would just help some people (myself included) to collect more wolves without having to worry quite as much about pack issues. Basically, while GC sales of small amounts might go down a bit, having GC in-game won't be a very big factor with how much is purchased. Major cons to the idea... and solutions I have for them. Oh, don't worry about it, I can hear people shouting at me already. "Buying GC supports the game!" "Buying GC keeps Wolvden alive!" This is true, buying GC helps keep Wolvden up and running. Some people don't want to spend real money on a game, or don't have the real money to spend on a game. The amounts earned would be far too small to add up to anything quickly, thus making it difficult- but still possible- to earn things entirely by effort. This would ensure that people would still have to buy GC if they wanted something quickly. There's also the whole lethal mutations thing (which I'm not gonna repeat because I already wrote about it above) which would require people to get that GC fast. "Rare items- like custom decors- would become less rare and therefore less valuable. The creators of the decor wouldn't profit as much from sales!" This... is a solid point. However, I'm gonna use my argument from above here, too. It would take a frustratingly long time to earn the GC for some decors... thus leading to people buying GC to purchase them... like they would have already. While that doesn't exactly do anything about custom decor's values changing, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The likeliness of them being purchased and resold is incredibly slim- no one would buy it for a more expensive value and if you sold it for cheaper, that would be wasting your precious golden cones. Conclusion If you have any other pros, cons, or arguments (for or against the idea) please let me know! I'd like to find more evidence for or against my idea so that I- and the people who code Wolvden- can see if this is actually a good idea or if I'm just a crazy dreamer who wants golden shinies. I'd also like to know if I've made in grammar or spelling errors. That would be embarrassing If you've reached this point, congratulations! Thank you for even considering that this isn't the craziest idea ever... and bothering to read through this very long post. Have a nice day! |
