Snowy Sky
Or, Siren's tale.
After a misunderstanding that resulted in a fight, Siren didn't have a pack. Didn't have a family. She was all alone, and the world never seemed so big. She wandered endlessly, meeting various animals, making acquaintances, but never felt like she could find a new home, anywhere in the universe. The wounds were still fresh, and Siren couldn't go through that much pain anymore. She was barely an adult, and it already felt as if the whole world was against her. It seemed like she had no purpose, no reason to go on.
During a cold, lonely night, Siren was traveling. She was in a dangerous environment, and she couldn't stay there any longer. She looked up at the sky and thought, 'the moon has never seemed brighter'. Suddenly, as the wind picked up, she heard a voice talking. "You. You are a born leader, the greatest of them all. Oh, child, you'll do great things. Your adventures will be written down in history, and your tale will be passed on for centuries. You will be remembered for a long, long time, for what you will start. You will be the founder of something remarkable. Remember my words, you will be a legend, a hero for many. Do not give up, ever." Siren could hear the words loud and clear, but she still couldn't believe them. Maybe she was just sleep-deprived, too hungry, maybe even near death. She heard tales about the Great Ancestors, the fallen wolves who look after them from the moonlit sky and decide their fate. She didn't believe them. If the Ancestors were so great, why did they let her lose everything? The speech was an odd thing to experience, but it probably was a hallucination. Or that was what she thought.
Sometime later.
Siren's life was going well after that moment. Too well, she thought. She met many friends who treated her well. Akira and Bailey were their names. They got along and formed something like a pack, but there were only three of them. Siren naturally claimed the role of the 'leader', but it wasn't anything official. They went through a lot together, but they still couldn't settle down. They were born travelers, it seemed. Time flew by faster than anything else, and other loners joined them as well. Brightsong, Amber, Moonshine, Zoey, Lily. There were eight of them now, and they started functioning as a pack. Siren was still the leader, and she liked it, which was unexpected. They were still travelers, but as things got more serious, they started looking for a place to settle down. The wolves felt like they were the start of something, something great maybe. It felt like what they were doing was important, and it will be significant.
One day, they reached the mountains. "This is it." Siren said, looking at the scenery before them. "This is our home.".
As years went by, and the pack grew larger and stronger under her care, Siren thought back to the memory. The memory of that bright, but cold night. "I guess it was true after all" She thought, looking at the sky once again.
