Tribe of Forsaken Spirits
Leaves crackle beneath your feet as you trod through the trees. You've heard tales of this forsaken land, many of which end grimly. Your hackles rise in tension, your eyes darting to every shadow. You try to convince yourself that they are only stories, made up to keep the young away. However, you had run your mouth to a fellow packmate and angered the storyteller. Now they've sent you in alone to see if you can disprove the legends, during the night of all times.
With a shake of your head, you push forward. You reach a clearing surrounded two thirds of the way around by a thicket of brambles far too dense to force your way through. Disgruntled you turn around, only to meet a set of eyes glowing in the darkness of the trees. You stop abruptly, a growl escaping your lips.
"I advise against that." The wolf in front of you steps forward. It is a young male who stands proudly. He huffs and tilts his head to look at the trees around him then and back to you., "You are poorly outmatched and outclassed."
It is now that you notice the numerous shadows surrounding you, leaving you stuck against the bramble thicket with no means of escape. The snapping of foliage causes you to turn your head to see another, larger male coming to stand next to the former. You silence yourself, given no choices were left to you.
"We are the Leaders of this land's tribe, Thunder Of Coming Storm and Shade In Thick Forest of the Tribe of Forsaken Spirits." The larger of the two introduces himself and the former. He looks down upon you with an icy gaze. "And we demand to know your identity and your origin."
You do as he says, giving him your name and your pack's name. You also inform him that you were not aware of wolves living here. This is, however, a lie considering this pack is part of the legend. This pack is feared for many reasons, intolerance of trespassers being right up at the top. You lower your head, your heart sinking as you realize your fate.
"Humph. Seems we have not made our presence clear. Shade, see to it that you dispose of them close to the border, where their corpse is sure to be fo-"
"Wait! Thunder!" The voice of a young female rings out. You watch as she bounds across the clearing. "Can we not teach this stranger?"
The younger leader glances at her, "What exactly do you mean?"
"With all due respect my lords, the violent way that we have been dealing with strangers in the past has clearly not made the point that we are a true Tribe who is only defending our own members and territory." She moves herself in between you and the Leaders, "Let's take this opportunity to show a living outsider that we do in fact live here and are not just a bunch of bloodthirsty rouges looking for a weak target." Her body posture gives you the sense that she is not just a random she-wolf but someone who knows the two brutes on a personal level.
Thunder Of Coming Storm grunts and turns away, "Do what you like Fern but, if they cause trouble, they will not be the only one to die."
Satisfied, she nods to Shade In Thick Forest, who seems pleased with her, and rushes over to you. "Sorry about them. I'm Fern Of Growing Woods. Come with me and I'll show you around and then send you home, okay?"
