"Higher Branches,
Harder Fall
Harder Fall
Hesitation
Stops Us All"
Stops Us All"
The sound of wing beats and catch your attention.
There on the closest branch sits a golden eagle, in its beak: an acorn to match its feathers. It stared intensely at you, seemingly begging for a chase before taking off, disappearing through the brush.
The trees are thin in these parts, allowing easy work for your paws to traverse. Your ears twitch to follow the thumping sound of the bird in flight, its large wingspan making enough noise for you to follow. Really, it all was quite a lot of effort for only a single gold acorn but...free stuff was free stuff!
That was until the trees broke into a clearing, the chase ending as abruptly as the sounds around you did. No longer was there any bird, nor was there even wind through the grass. Eerily a twig snaps and you swing around, snarling in fright.
"Can I help you?" There stood a wolf, its golden pelt on display as the sunny clearing framed them in front of you. They smile, a gleam in their eye.
Perhaps there was more to this chase than you first expected.

Welcome to The
Eyrie
There is something odd about this pack. Feathers cover the ground and it's impossible to ignore the uncanny way the local birds seem attracted to these wolves. As a bird lands on one, the wolf turns to preen it's feathers, chirping along to the bird's calls as if deep in discussion.

Culture
Here, wolves appear to display a unique relationship with avians.
➳ Members as they age may find themselves attracting a specific bird which will become what they refer to as 'familiars'. When this bond is formed, they must take the pledge to never hunt nor feed upon the specific species of their given familiar. If this law is broken, their bond will be broken with it and they risk being chased out by the rest of the pack.
➳ The most unique and special phenomenon to do with the eyrie is the making of a new pack leader. The new pack leader's spirits will fuse their familiar's, allowing them to become one with an avian which forms a special bond between wolf and bird. They may take the form of their familiar's species at will though give back to the land with moments of silence and thoughtful ritual as a form of thanks every full moon.
➳ Wolves, with a familiar or not, require a unique level of training in avian body and verbal language.
➳ Rituals are a deeply personal and special thing to every individual wolf, coming in many different shapes and forms depending on the reason and resources. They can be done for many reasons, including to connect to the land, to bond with one's familiar, for self-growth or simply piece of mind. Some will perform through meditation while others with gather and use meaningful resources pertaining to their intention. It is encouraged from a young age to learn and find your own personal way of doing these practices.
➳ Familiars have been seen dying with their bonded wolf, though others have appeared to be continuously sighted despite their bonds passing. It is thought to be the way some spirits manifest, though this isn't a unanimously accepted thought process.
