Winterhide Guardians
pack history
winterhide guardians
---
Deep in the mountains, a chorus of barks and yips catch your ear. Following the noise, you come across a pack, and after moments of observing the wolves joyously going about their day, you are approached by a pair you had failed to spot previously. They must have blended in with the snow and rock. They greet you, introducing themselves as Therin and Rasija, and welcome you to the pack of the Winterhide Guardians.
The Winterhide Guardians have been around for far longer than anyone can recall, with extensive history tied to the mountains they’ve always resided in, but the pack had grown few in numbers towards the start of their more commonly recalled past. Therin, a descendant of the original leaders, and one of the few remaining with knowledge of the wolves who came before him, was determined to change that. Unfortunately, though, he could not do it single handedly. Therin himself held no interest for female wolves, and, despite his attempts to change that, simply could not push himself to breed. Luckily for him, his partner, Rasija, did not hold the same limitation. The two decided that, due to circumstance, a compromise was to be made. As numbers struggled, Rasija named himself as the pack’s breeding male in order to bring them up. Therin knew it was necessary, and was at least content in knowing that Rasija harbored no feelings for the females whose pups he sired. The two would maintain their bond just as strongly as they maintained the numbers of the Winterhide Guardians.
Still, though, females could only bear pups so often, and Therin couldn’t stand the thought of their pack being so small and so weak. Such a situation would do nothing but put them in a vulnerable position and make them far easier to be wiped out entirely. In a desperate attempt to change this, Therin resorted to searching for pack members outside of the true bloodlines of the Winterhide Guardians. Though some, such as Rasija’s brother, Ifija, harbored many complaints on this, Therin went through with it regardless. He went on to bring in both lone, wandering wolves and unwanted pups from other packs, treating them as if they were always a part of his pack alone, breaking all previous tradition held. Complaints from other original pack members would only proceed to get louder until one of these outsiders would come to prove them utterly unreasonable.
