The world began in a *-f l a s h-* of light.
There was nothing, then there was blackness. A void, but tangible, alive. Before there was light, before there was any proper life, there were angels. The first children of God. The truest, purest creations to ever exist.
There were the Shining Ones, skin burning with light, hair long and silvery. There were the Burning Ones, regal columns of fire, six wings extended. There were the Watchful Ones, turning rings of glowing rock surrounding a great eye.
And there were the Others.
The Others, with four fearsome heads and four massive wings, were outcasts, even among the greatest race in existence. One head is a dragon, teeth sharp with smoke curling out its nose and fire burning from its mouth. One head is a lion, permanently roaring in fury, eyes reflecting flame. One head is an eagle, eyes sharp and beak open, ready to catch prey. The last head is like the head of a Shining One, nearly circular, but almost flat, with striking features.
These four types of holy beings existed in the void, created by God, and loved by him. Then he created the universe. Sent a million spinning stars into the sky, made the earth. He created the sun, day and night. He made land from a chaotic landscape of water. He made animals.
He made mankind. With their foolish attempts at being just like God, the angels were not pleased. God seemed to love them, perhaps more than he loved his first children. Most of the angels continued, ruling over their chosen domain, obeying God as they always had.
But the Others. A sickness grew in their minds, overtaking their purity, overtaking their godlike powers, turning them intoβ¦something else. In their minds, a world of darkness grew, sucking away the light that they had been created with.
The Others grew enraged, strong, determined, and jealous. They went to earth, tearing through the sky, scorching the earth, ravaging life. They came for mankind, which had barely begun their journey into the world. They savaged them, turning them into barely more than ash.
No bones, no blood, no flesh remained. Nothing but ash, dust, and a thirst for more.
The Others attacked, destroyed, and burned the world. Nothing could satisfy the bloodlust inside.
But then they were punished. God, growing hotter and enraged at his first children. The rest of his angelic children viewed The Others as greater outcasts then they had before. God renewed his handmade world, crafting it back into life from ash and stone.
Then he cast The Others onto it, as harmless, weak, mortal, wolves. Their powers gone, their lives able to be snuffed out like a flame. They were weak.
They were lost.
They were truly outcasts.
