Mothmen
Astra has never considered herself to be a brave wolf. She always tended to worry far too much about things, or so her parents often said. When she was young, she lost her pack in a territory dispute. She wandered alone for months until she happened to meet Tala. The older wolf introduced her to a wolf who called himself Firefly who also happened to be alone. They hit it off immediately and decided to settle in the mountains. Astra jokingly called the two of them the mothmen after the little winged creatures that tended to hang around their den, mainly on or around Firefly, and the name ended up sticking. Others slowly began to join, and all looked to Astra for guidance. She was absolutely terrified at first, but with Firefly's support, she flourished into a lead her pack could be proud of. Her anxiety led to her being prepared, always a step ahead of the challenges her new pack faced.
She quickly instituted a council of her closest companions, including two scouts, a herbalist, a hunter, and a pupsitter so that all jobs within the pack would be represented. Working together under Astra, the council vowed to make sure all wolves in their pack's needs were met and their concerns addressed. Some pack members have come and left, but always on good terms and the new wolves who have joined them far outnumber those who have left.
By the time their first winter rolled around, they had more than enough food, medicine and entertainment to last well into the following spring. While a few wolves were injured, it was always dealt with quickly and with great care. And now that winter has passed, the pack has traveled south to the desert in search of whatever adventure awaits them, knowing that they will be prepared to face it as long as they stick together.
In their second year, the pack moved to the desert. They fought hard to earn their new territory and through the rest of the year focused on getting stronger and growing their numbers. They set aside new dens for each of the hunting teams who worked together to make sure there wasn't a day any of them went hungry.
As the years rolled by, the pack continued to grow and flourish as they traveled from biome to biome, although they often returned to the desert where they felt most at home. They continued to have adventure after adventure, and as they got older Astra and the council started to think of their pack's future and began to start training their successors.
