☁️The Sky Walkers☁️
Among the sky we shall rest, away from the eyes of others and forever in a home of serenity and silence. -Cloud Gaze
Cloud Gaze's life starts rough; her pack, the Black Roses, is struggling. Struggling to provide food throughout the winter, and even in the easier seasons.
A small piebald pup lay among the tundra's white snow, her soft whimpers like small whistles cutting through the harsh wind. "Get up," Her mother ordered, sending Cloud Gaze to her paws, trembling from the cold and hunger. She hadn't eaten for days, her pack was struggling. Cloud Gaze whined at her mother, nearly begging for at least a small morsel.
Her mother, Dark Night, growled and snapped at Cloud Gaze's face. Cloud Gaze flinched and shrunk away, and watched her pack begin to stand, her leader, Foul Scream, talking with another wolf about where to relocate.
"Mother...I'm so hungry, are you sure there's noth-" "There isn't anything, Cloud Gaze, now shut your jaws before I rip it off." Cloud Gaze quickly shut her mouth, shuffling her paws nervously.
"My pack, we are preparing to relocate our pack, please carry the weaker pups, let's give them more chances at life." Foul Scream announced, Cloud Gaze sighing along with the rest of her pack. As a five-month-old pup, she had moved with her pack countless times, she could only begin to imagine how much the older wolves had relocated.
Cloud Gaze began to walk with shaky paws, following the rest of her pack while Dark Night held her sibling, Howl Mouth in her jaws. Howl Mouth was a sickly pup, Cloud Gaze wondered how much time her brother had left. Howl Mouth stirred, opening his orange eyes, "What's happening? Are we moving again?" He croaked, his voice rusty, like he hadn't used it in a long time. "We are, Howl Mouth, now do me a favor and be silent." Dark Night said around Howl Mouth's scruff. "Momma, my neck hurts." Howl Mouth whined, earning a growl from Dark Night, "Do you want me to drop you and have you walk for days?"
Howl Mouth whined again, "No, no please don't make me walk, I'm too tired..." "Then be quiet." Howl Mouth went silent after that. Cloud Gaze walked, wordless as if someone had ripped the vocal cords from her throat. The icy snow turned her paws numb, causing her to stumble near constantly. The sun sunk into the sky, casting darkness upon the sky. Cloud Gaze expected her pack to pause, even if it was for a moment, but they continued walking. Cloud Gaze didn't want to be left behind, so walking she continued, keeping her mouth shut in fear of being shouted at. It wasn't until the sun reappeared in the other direction that the pack stopped. Cloud Gaze flopped down onto the snow, she didn't care about the clumps of the icy powder that stuck to her fur. Her legs ached as much as her stomach did, her eyes half-shut.
It seemed as if she only slept briefly before her mother shook her awake, telling her it was time to continue their trip. Cloud Gaze got to her trembling paws, her mother picking up Howl Mouth, his ears twitching as she did so. Cloud Gaze sighed audibly and followed her mother, her paws still aching and her legs felt weak. Howl Mouth whined, "No no no, I don't want to move anymore, why can't we just stay here?" Howl Mouth squirmed till he dropped from Dark Night's jaws, curling into the snow.
Dark Night glanced at Foul Screech, who shook his head.
"Howl Mouth, we're not leaving, I thought you'd want to see us hunt," Dark Night said softly, and Howl Mouth shook his head. "I don't want to, I want to stay here, Cloud Gaze will go."
Cloud Gaze huffed at being volunteered, but said nothing.
Dark Night sighed, "Okay. Stay here, we'll come back with some good warm food."
Howl Mouth nodded, curling into the snow further and letting his eyelids droop. Dark Night frowned and began walking off, Cloud Gaze following.
And that was the last time Cloud Gaze saw her brother.
Cloud Gaze traveled for many more days before her pack finally reached the Deciduous Forest, and she flopped onto the clearing, letting out a long, sleepy sigh. Now it was time for den building, which didn't involve Cloud Gaze being conscious, so sleep she did. She only stirred as someone grabbed her by the scruff to carry her into a half-done den. More puppies were added to that den, and bramble was laid over the opening for protection. Cloud Gaze stayed there for three blurry days, not a single bit of food being offered to the puppies, they instead all grabbed the roots from the dirt and chewed on those to sedate the hunger. Finally, on the third day, a pale pink she-wolf walked over with small chunks of meat in her jaws. Eagle Glare, being the strongest, pushed everyone away and left one chunk from the original five, and Cloud Gaze managed to grab the last one, hunched over it as the other two foodless puppies stared at her.
The next day, those two had a lack of breath and were deemed dead, and tossed in the stream, their small, lifeless bodies carried by the stream's current. Cloud Gaze and Eagle Glare were the only two who had managed to live, puppy and adolescent wise. Eagle Glare was a strong wolf, and when he aged up, he aged out of the Black Roses and never came back.
Cloud Gaze was more of the brainy sort, depending on her wits to help her live, she too, left the Black Roses and formed her own pack. The Sky Walkers. She settled among the fogged forests and mountains, hoping she was safe within the fog.
She never once looked back, she vowed to have pups first priority, always, after all...
they're the true future of everywolf.
They, are always the successor.
SkyWalkers. That's what these wolves are called. They seem to have steps like soft clouds and glide in the currents of the wind.
They were founded by Cloud Gaze, an ethereal she-wolf who established her home among the fogged woods and the dark, high mountains kept far away from the eyes of others.
These wolves typically have bright colors, yet they seem airy and transparent. Their paws and tails left misty wisps as they walked, they left wet paw steps, almost as if they were an actual cloud, made of mist.
The puppies are paler than adults until they reach adolescence, as an adaptation to stay safe.
These wolves are typically more passive than other wolves until threatened, the white or light and colorful wolves have a better chance at staying alive, and a dark puppy is considered a bad omen.
