The Caverns
Deep beneath the land of the beasts lay a series of tunnels, stretching through each biome. The twisting corridors have claimed numerous souls, permanently lost in the belly of the land. It was only a matter of time before a small band of canines stumbled into the maw the hollow and was lulled deeper. The budding pack were in awe of the grottoes they stumbled upon, deciding to claim the unique land for their own.
Like clock work, a few new wolves would start across one of the numerous entrances and quickly find themselves lost. It must have been your turn, seeing as curiosity lured you into the stone tunnels and you could no longer recall your path out. Every wall looked the same and the faint find current only tossed your scent about in a confusing swirl. Your paws pad against the cold ground, your eyes struggling to adapt to the darkness that swarmed the area. You could just barely make out the echoing of claws clicking against the stone or perhaps that was just the sound of your own paws. Spotting the trickle of moonlight, you rush into the rays, relieved to finally see your paws in front of your own muzzle. A amused snicker filled your ears, making your eyes dart around for the source of the noise.
"Well, hello there. Nice ta meet ya too. Awfully far from that entrance ain't ya?" The voice snickered with an accent you were unfamiliar with. You nodded, despite being in the dimly lit cavern. "Ain't the first critter to get lost in here. Luckily for ya, you've got me." The voice barked in a tone that almost seemed smug. "Ya know, there's a pack down here. I can lead ya to them, if ya ain't gonna eat them or somethin'." That was a rather odd term, but if it would help you get out, you really couldn't see a downside. At your next nod, the critter stepped forward into the moonlight. Piercing yellow eyes meet your own as the brown-ish wolf pads by you, quickly taking a second look when you see what seems to look like a vine on the canine's neck. At a second glance, you notice that the vine is in fact alive and not a vine at all; it's a small snake, one you're hoping is not venomous. The stranger begins to lead you into a smaller tunnel, this one hidden by several large leaves.
"So, like, these dudes won't be leaving again today, but if ya wait for a bit, they'd be willing ta bring ya out when it's later." It's not long until the sound of yipping cubs fill your ears, quickly finding a pair of pups pouncing on each other as they played with the other. Your presence is noticed immediately by the elder wolves, several pairs of eyes staring you down. "Ya'll know the drill; got lost, staying the day, lead 'em out, yadda, yadda." They spoke to the mass before turning toward you with a wolfish grin. "See ya around, mate. Don't get lost again." The large wolf laughed and only now did you notice that their mouth didn't move as they spoke. Before you can ponder it any further, they pivot on their paws and pad back the way they came. Huh, that was an odd wolf, might as well check out this pack before they help you find your way back.
