Crow's Wings

Shifting shadows move amongst the luscious grass as winds encourage the leaves to dance. The ground, moist from the winding river that chirps with ever present life, invites you with swaying reeds and promises of a cool refreshment after the hot day of travelling. Near the river, caves of pups laughing and tussling are oblivious to the serenity, instead focusing on which beetle will win in a race. The older wolves, laying by the river, reminisce about their life away from this place, where the mountain peaks seemed to divide the sky, splitting it into two and opening opportunities. Now they live here, amidst the winding river and the quacks of the ducks. One day, they will return, and a new generation will learn of the struggles and beauties of the mountains. But for now, they stay, the Riparian Woodland providing sanctuary for many generations to come.
