The pain instantly subsides as you hear rustling in the bushes, suggesting someone is approaching. You tense up and growl under your breath, trying to ward off whatever is approaching. A moment later, you find yourself nose to nose with a stranger wolf, with a distinctive scent. You both remain silent for a long time, exchanging glances and soft growls until finally understanding that neither will attack the other.
"It looks nasty," the stranger finally says, inspecting your wound. Indeed, it doesn't look like something that will heal in a few days.
"Come," he adds, motioning with his head for you to follow him. "We have a medic who can help you."
You're not sure where you're going, relying only on the words of the stranger wolf, who slowly leads you into deeper parts of the forest. The strong scent of pine trees, mixed with damp earth and the scent of the pack, fills your nose. Whenever you need to stop, the stranger stands beside you, carefully observing for any danger.
"And if you need to recover, we have plenty of food and plenty of space to rest," the stranger continues on the way, sounding warmer and more confident with each word.
As you reach a high cliff, you see a vast area - pine trees cover it almost entirely, and where there's a larger patch of open ground, you can see a bustling community. In the heart of the camp, puppies are playing, caretakers chat amongst themselves while keeping an eye on the youngest ones. Hunters head out for a hunt, while another group of wolves plays near the nearby river. You watch everything with shy amazement, finally asking, "Where are we?"
The stranger laughs warmly, brushing his tail against your side, signaling for you to keep following him. "We're home."
