The mountain peaks are covered in snow, snow that has settled on soot.
A slumbering volcano underneath gives the mountain its jagged rock, hot pools, and heavy soot. Being in a cold climate, the snow settles faster then it melts.
There's a crater in the middle where the core still generates heat, unnaturally flat and warm, no snow settles there. The Pack dens there, building huts and nesting. The mountain seems to curl around the settlement, protecting it from the harsh winds and winter cold.
All wolves who reside here boast stained black paws, the soot of the mountain does not wash free.
Having to trek jagged terrain frequently all have developed hard pads and a harder attitude, visitors often run into problems with the terrain and altitude. Slow climbing and acclimation is suggested, scouts are sent out as escorts when necessary to prevent wolves being lost or dying for the cold if they pass out.

Shoddy attitudes lol, the winter is tough but these wolves tempers are tougher 🤣
