For He Broke Down
Ever since Shepherd was a young pup at his old folk's ranch, he knew his only purpose was herd sheep. It was in his blood. And he knew that with this job, there'd be many situations where he's had to protect the flock alongside with his owner from dangerous beasts, such as mountain lions and wolves. He always worked himself hard when it came to his tasks, only caring about warning his master of danger. But as life went on and he grew older, he started to falter and wear down from all his actions and could no longer stop tragedies from occurring more frequently. He didn't know what to do as he began to have sudden painful contractions that made him go stiff for long periods of time and soon, to his dismay, his folk replaced him with someone new. Someone stronger. The Guard. A Touch Of Affection
Her name was Cleo. She was just about the sweetest dog you could ever meet and was extremely loyal. But all her life, she had been judged by all, for she was a rottweiler. Rottweilers, along with many bully breeds, were assumed to be dangerous and nothing but harm when left alone, so she was put into harsh conditions, always having to wear a muzzle and tight, painful harness when out and about. When she was brought to the ranch, she felt so much relief as she first thought she'd be free of her old life. However, she was quickly proven wrong as she was forced to do double of what shepherd used to do, and whenever she failed to do so, she was tied up to a post for half a week with barely any food or water. And Shepherd, despite his health conditions, still had to work too, and with the all this new pressure weighing on his back, he was suffering from the same punishments. Overtime, as the sun fell and the moon was at its highest, the two canines grew close, and eventually, were inseparable. They had learned to live with each others scars and sorrow, and it was only with Shepherd that Cleo had felt safe, never having to worry about him shunning her for her breed. Soon, after about two years of this going on, the two began to have enough and when night soon rose, they broke free from their chains and made a break for it, planning to forget it all and start a new life.
