Soft
The Soft aren't a very powerful pack. Their political influence stretches more than their claws do, and they do their best to maintain good relations with the packs around them. Their Alpha Roger is wise for his years and equally as strong, but it is truly the work of the hunters and scouts who lift the pack up. The Soft are more than open to vagabonds and orphans joining their ranks, because every little bit of help they give matters. They aren't exactly vain, but their appearances are very important to them and their offspring.
For the most part, the Soft follow Warriors naming conventions, except for a select few. Those wolves either have founding importance or are socially above in the hierarchy because they remind me of someone.
Wolves are given a pup name, normally an object, animal, color, or plant, based on their physical traits. These names are normally worked into their adult names, which consist of two-part combinations.
New wolves invited into the pack are renamed accordingly, with or without their input.
Dynasties include all the pups sired by a male. In pairbonds, dynasties are less likely to be present. In breeding males, however, dynasties come with unique traits (in the form of visual accessories) for male and female offspring. These unique traits are thought to be biologically preventative measures to keep inbreeding out of the pack, once a male has had enough puppies with different females. They can be sex-dependent and only appear in either male or female pups, or both. Puppies born out of a dynasty will always have a visual trait, until the dynasty is 2 generations old. After that, it will no longer be apparent. The first female bred at the beginning of a dynasty will be recognized over the subsequent females, given special status and normally pairbonded with their male. These females are referred to as the dynasty matriarchs.
The current dynasties are:
Founder's Dynasty
The Founder's Dynasty was begun by Roger, the Founder. His first mate was the fellow founder, Charlie. Their first generation of pups included Lemonstripe and Rustfur. Their special traits are
- Tusks (M)
- Septum Piercing (M, F)
This pack uses circles and squares to indicate a secondary mutation that is not visible in the puppies of wolves with said mutation, in order to keep track of these genes.
