Shadows in the Wood

Pack History:
Coal and Ash were dispersal wolves who met in the forest. Both favoring darkness and hiding in the shadows as their preferred hunting method; Once theh commanded a sizeable pack, Coal migrated them from the deciduous forest to the darker and more dangerous woods of the swamp. He established the leaders den at the base of a large and ancient tree, finding a comfortable hollow within its large twisting roots. The roots also made for good high ground to stand on when speaking to the pack as a whole.

In this dark place, the veil between worlds thinned, and a wolf named Quartz traveled to the dreamlands, where she met her mate. Their children can travel between the two realms freely, and bear glowing blue markings. (Very sadly I failed to save quartz to my dynasty even though she is important to pack lore :( )

In his old age, Coal relocated the pack again, this time to the mountains, wanting to make an easier life for his pack who were now either aged and frailer than they were, or young and inexperienced. His son, Charcoal, lead the pack for a time, but was already getting up in years himself. While he had many children of his own, none were destined to become the new pack leader.

Sibling wolves, Kamui and Rezan, who aligned themselves with the strange and dangerous cryptids of the merged faction found the weakening pack in the mountains, and were easily able to oust Charcoal and take over the pack. Raising the next generation of the pack to be tough warriors, the atmosphere of the pack changed; though they kept their old superstitions. For example, their first healer was a golden wolf, and now they beleive a gold coat is a sign a pup is destined to heal. Also, one of their caves is called the Bear cave, after the packs first hunter, Black Bear, who managed to hunt for the pack on her own. It is beleived her spirit still aids those who sleep in her cave on their own hunts.
