Two Feathers
You stumble into unknown territory. Whether you were just venturing off and getting lost or just a rogue passing through, you noticed these lands were unfamiliar. The air was light and clean as the gentle breeze combed through your fur. A doe stood on the far side of the field you had just walked into with its fawn, watching you. You stare into its large black eyes with hunger before it resumes grazing the grass. You lower your body closer to the ground, hoping the tall grass hides your frame. You were ever so close to the doe and fawn, your eyes targeted the fawn since it was just yourself and you did not want to waste any meat before you could hear something approaching the deer. The deer never seemed phased, but this was not your territory after all so you were the one that was worried.
You peek over the tall blades of grass and spot a black and gray-toned she-wolf decored in bioluminescent beads and feathers. She stood tall and graceful as she approached the deer and cleaned the fawn's head while they grazed. Panic started to set in, fear of being caught and causing a potential fight.
"No need to fear, my darling. I won't bring you harm." The she-wolf cooed. You thought she was speaking to the fawn until she raised her head to lock into your gaze. You froze on the spot despite her rather soothing words.
"You are hungry, yes?" She pointed out the obvious, seeing that you were ready to take down the fawn she was just grooming. "Come with me, we have leftovers back at the den you can have. It's a fresh kill, so you don't have to worry about spoiled meat."
She radiated an aura you could not explain as she gave you the most gentle smile you've ever witnessed. Her gray eyes were soft and bright despite the dark color. After a moment of silent thought, you reluctantly agreed to follow. Leaving the deer, she leads you deeper into the open fields where other wolves and pups can be seen frolicking. A male wolf greeted the she-wolf who was similar in tone, except he wore more white with bright yellow eyes. "Did you enjoy your time…" His bellowing voice drifted as his eyes locked with you, a stranger following his mate back to their home. "Welcome," he nodded before smiling.
They were awful… Friendly.
"I did, and I brought home a hungry friend." She licked her mate's cheek before brushing past him as he turned to follow suit behind you once you passed. You glanced back at him, watching him give you a gentle nod followed by a reassuring, soft blink. The others did not seem to notice the visitor while the blinged-out she-wolf led them to a half-eaten carcass. It was plenty for you to feast on without a doubt and still have leftover meat on it for the others.
"Eat, my dear. Trust me, we have plenty to share." The she-wolf reassured once more, taking a chunk of meat for herself and laid next to the corpse. Hesitantly, you start to nibble at the corpse before you are comfortable enough to start eating bigger bites.
"Excuse me, but I forgot to introduce myself." She spoke once she finished her chunk of meat. "I'm Alpha Anonymous, but you can call me Anon for short. Leader of Two Feathers." She raised her head proudly, the glowing beads shifting with each small movement of her head. You nod softly to her and introduce yourself in return.
She does not bother asking why you are in her territory or whose pack you belong to. She was more concerned about you being fed. Her mate joins her side, sitting next to her. You barely noticed the two feathers that were tucked behind the male's ear. They did not match the feathers Anonymous wore, but they blended in with his black and white tones. Another wolf came from the fields to grab a small chunk of meat. He too wore two feathers instead he wore them around their neck. Given the name, you assumed the rest wore the feathers as well.
You thank Anonymous and her mate for letting you eat, but you know you have to be on your way. Anonymous knew you had places to be, but felt better now that you had food on your stomach. "Please, come back anytime!"
