Pariah's Refuge
Nestled against the montane timberline in northwestern hemisphere is an abandoned campsite. Once known by humans as Blackfish Lake, the grounds have been empty for many years following a mudslide and permanent road closure; these days it is home to a large gathering of outcast wolves.
Known as Pariah's Refuge, the pack welcomes all lost and hopeless wolves that seek companionship and camaraderie.
Ridge, the original founder of the pack, sought to carve a place and name out for those left at a paw's length like she. She hopped around from clearing to hollow, but ultimately it was her son, Vale, that found their new home.
The grounds host many feature that are invaluable to the resourceful wolf--shelters, clearings, water, an abundance of fish and plenty of small game.
The Caves
➤ The Helm, a picnic shelter stripped of everything and huddled by large, fluffy conifers is where the leader and those closest to the decision-making processes rest their heads.
➤ The Hoard is safeguarded by its residents, the pack herbalists, scouts and their apprentices or helpers. To preserve fresh food and medicine quality, their den hugs a hole in the wall of the rental office. The Birthplace is nestled inside this very building, welcoming newborn pups into the world into it's quiet and warm walls.
➤ The Essence settles on the far side of the shore next to a small weathered dock, departing for daily coordinated hunts for the good of the whole pack every day.
➤ The Trailhead is an adolescent-only den kept in check by the adjacent hunting crew and a designated pupsitter. Plenty of mischief and confusion exists in this continually changing space, but when wolves come of age they are free to depart when they feel they are ready. They are constantly voting on a new name due to the revolving door of indecisive and immature teen wolves, so it most often gets called by its landmark in the center of the area.
➤ The Nursery is home to pupsitters and young pups interested in staying in the pack when they become of age. Due to the intensity of caring for many puppies, they gather in the largest clearing dotted with stumps and logs.
➤ The Haven welcomes all newly rehomed misfit wolves, abandoned puppies and transient residents. Stocked by The Troop, they rely on the pack's care to build up the strength to survive on their own. It takes a certain kind of wolf to allow themselves the vulnerability in unfamiliar places, and regardless of pack ethos some wolves need their own space and rules. These dens are smaller and cobbled out of the former campsite parking lot, made with a smattering of rocks, logs and ingenuity to create temporary personal spaces.
➤ The Bridge is the final home for many geriatric and ill or disabled pack members. The moonlight kisses the opening of the den on clear nights, brightening up a cave meticulously dug out of the eroded embankment at the heart of the grounds.
Personal Pack Guidelines
I. Realistic or mostly-realistic wolves only. Unnatural markings + shades are okay so long as they don't display too unnaturally.
II. Realistic or mostly-realistic decor.
III. Scars should go on the wolves that earn them, but this isn't hard and fast.
IV. Name all wolves; traded or adopted wolves can have almost any kind of naming convention. Packborn wolves are to be named nature words or can inherit a parent's naming convention. Leaders upon passing get a title / epithet.
V. Log cave changes / injuries / pregnancies in wolf bios.
VI. Wolves that do not have good camouflage cannot be stalkers or finishers.
VII. Hunting parties should stick to one biome.
VIII. Aggressive personalities accepted sparingly.
IX. Yearling breedings should be done according to personality unless there's a compelling lore explanation
X. Illnesses should be cured after one rollover.
XI. New gestational parents should give up their role until their pups are weaned.
