Three Raven Order
The Three Raven Order is an elusive pack, known for its fervent religious beliefs and high-control environment. They operate on a strict set of commandments and an even stricter caste of ranks, based upon a gospel sung from the beaks of holy birds; their Falcons roam the land preaching the Three Ravens' Call, and nearly every pack ever unfortunate enough to share their territory is bombarded with demands to convert or face the Ravens' wrath.
CODE_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________1.
I. The Ravens' Code is to be followed at all times, by all wolves of the order, no matter how young or old they may be.
II. The Ravens are to be venerated by every action, for it is they who guide us to holiness.
III. The Raven Prince's word is unbreakable law, as his words are those of the Ravens.
IV. The Raven Prince may change ranks, pairings, and even names as he sees fit.
V. Save for the Corvids, one is not to take a mate outside of their own Rank. Pups sired by a wolf outside of the dam's rank, as well as adopted pups, will take on the rank of their dam.
VI. Corvids are to eat first and fullest.
VII. Raptors and Passerine may not leave the temple without the explicit permission of a Corvid.
VIII. [TBA]
IX. [TBA]
X. TO BREAK ANY LAW OF THE CODE IS TO COURT A DIVINE DEATH.
HIERARCHY__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________2.
The Order is founded upon a system of six Sacred Ranks: a divine order declared by the first Raven's guardian, the Ranks are dictated by the current Raven. Split into three Flocks, the Corvids, the Raptors, and the Passerine, each tier of the Ranks have different duties and different skills assigned to them. Save for the Raven, pairs must be arranged within one's specific Flock, and, preferably, rank (as the privilege of the Raven's holiness is enough to elevate their mate to equal status with them, they are omitted from this rule). Pups will take on their dam's Flock and rank, as well as the permitted name complexity; only upon promotion (or, more likely, demotion) will these given assignments change.
The Raven (★★★★) is the holiest of them all, and rules directly blessed by the Three Ravens; deities who they are descended from, albeit in spirit rather than in flesh. They have command of the entire Order, and every wolf is to obey their orders without hesitation (and, save for their fellow Corvids, without question). Their role is surrendered only at death, and Ravens cannot step down; if one wishes to become Raven early, they must challenge the current Raven to a death-duel and win their position.
The Crow (★★★) is the Raven's companion, and the 'beta' of the pack. Though they are typically the Raven's mate or heir, the Crow may also be a regent ruler if the current Raven is particularly young. The amount of responsibility they bear is up entirely to the current Raven; while some Crows are arguably more of rulers than the Raven themself, and some simply laze around being pampered, most occupy a firm middle ground of impressive (but still tight-leashed) power.
The Jay (★★) is [TBA]
The Rooks (★) are powerful spiritual wolves, second only to the Raven in terms of holiness. Though their main duty is to preach the Three Ravens' Call, they are also permitted to learn the sacred craft of herbalism. They personally manage the Falcons, dictating where they will travel and who they will preach to; however, they also have more personal apprentices, who they train from birth to eventually take on the role of the next Jays.
Falcons (☆☆☆) are the traveling priests of the order, sharing similar responsibilities and powers to the Jay. WIP
Hawks (☆☆) hunters
Kites (☆) pupsitters
Finches (III) are those who find themselves purposeless by mere circumstance. Mostly consisting of pups and newcomers, Finches are members of the Order who have not yet been assigned to a working Flock. During their time as Finches, they will take up a variety of odd jobs, typically cleaning, preparing food, gathering herbs, guarding the camp edge, and other such things. When the Ranks are next checked over, they will be assigned ranks if spots are open, or continue with their Finch duties if the other Flocks are not permitting new members.
Robins (II) are outgoing wolves pending purchase by other masters. Their existence in the pack is a highly temporary one.
Sparrows (X), meanwhile, are those who have been banished from the Ranks, but still stay within the Order--mostly because they have nowhere else to go. The pariahs of the Order, Sparrows are rarely fed or attended to, with little opportunity for upward mobility once banished. For some, Sparrowship is a temporary punishment for crime; for others, though, it's a permanent mark of one's failures.
