The Illusperes
This is not home.
Oh, the mountains are welcoming enough -- game and water are plentiful, the vistas grandiose. From the snowy peaks to the high plains, the mountains provide almost everything a canine could ask for.
But the fact remains: this is not home.
It isn't Kaiza's home, which lays far to the south, where the earth is the color of the sunset and the night sky comes alive with stars, a bridge to the world beyond this one. It isn't Spectre's home, though maybe a lost soul like him will never truly find a place of peace. It isn't the home of any of the motley band of misfits Kaiza has somehow managed to wrangle together. No, it's a temporary living arrangement, this place -- this pack. They banded together because, ultimately, they needed each other, taking up residence in the forest edges lining the lake because it was better than being alone.
But from need, true bonds can be forged. Some may choose to move on, but already the groundwork for a real pack is being laid. Roles and partnerships. Friendships and... possibly, even loves. Someday, Kaiza will return to her home and root out those who drove her away. If she leads her band well, some of them may choose to follow her there.
But for now, this is their temporary not-home. And, unless you think you can convince Kaiza otherwise, it should probably be temporary for you, too...

The Illusperes have come to an arrangement of sorts with these neighbors; if they prove trustworthy, there's potential for an allyship down the road... |
