There’s something strange about the land. Fog coats the air around you, thick enough so that you couldn’t see two inches in front of your face. You worry about tripping on a log or walking straight into a nearby tree, perhaps even falling directly into a lake or river. However, even with these worries, it was imperative that you move on. You weren’t going to find shelter, food, or water just standing around in the middle of the forest. Besides, you were like a walking, breathing target for any other predator in the area. You needed shelter.
A leaf moves. You jump. Another, but behind you this time. A twig cracks in the distance. How strange. You think to yourself.
As your eyes flicker upwards, you jump back at the sight that meets them. The moon. It’s red and it’s huge. It’s as red as blood trickling out of a wound in a deer. As red as the iris’s of your mother. As red as...red. It’s just...red. You’ve never seen such a thing before.
Suddenly, a howl pierces your eardrums. A pack? You question to yourself. You hadn’t smelled any scent markers, but perhaps you had missed them? It was unlike you to not pay much attention to your surroundings, so how would you have missed it? You didn’t have much time to question yourself, for you could hear the loud thumping of paws on the earth. Due to the fog, there wasn’t much to do but stand still and hope to whatever celestial being up there that you wouldn’t become lunch for a bear.
“What are you doing on my land?” A female voice flows through the atmosphere. You can’t see her yet, but you know she’s close. The thumping has stopped nearby. “This is the land of Blood Moon Shadows. What are you doing on it?” She questions again.
“Just-Just passing through-” You stammer out. You’re slightly relieved that the thumping hadn’t been a bear, but fear still raked through your frame at the other’s tone. She didn’t sound aggressive, but she did sound big, and she did sound powerful.
“My name is Galaxy,” she seemed to relax somewhat, “Roy is my partner.” She appears from the fog with a faint smile on her lips. “Are you sure you can’t stay for a while? This land is quite mystical, it’s a wonder to be in it. Roy and I founded it ourselves and had our first litter here.” You think for a short moment before giving a nod. You would stay for a day or two before moving on and looking for your own place to settle with your own partner - quite similar to how Galaxy and Roy did it themselves.
“You’ll love my boys. They’re playful as pups can be, but they’re lovable just as much. Jayce isn’t bad either,” she laughs softly, “but he is up on a high throne that he refuses to come down from. Come on, you’ll love it!” She bounds forward and urges you to follow.
