The pack holds the strong belief that the worlds of the living and the dead overlap and all souls linger, and it is not entirely unheard of for ordinary wolves to catch glimpses of those beyond the veil on the nights when the veil thins. But some are afflicted by a condition the pack refers to as being "moon-touched", which causes them to be much closer to the realm of the dead than other wolves, which is a double edged, unpredictably dangerous sword.

Not all hearts are the same and not all moon-touched suffer from the same level of it, which leads some to be much more susceptible to the influences of the malign. Particularly during fullmoon and eclipse nights, such wolves are often overwhelmed and overpowered by the spirits around them, even the ones who mean no harm. They may be overcome by feelings and speak of memories in voices that are not their own, becoming an entirely different, unpredictable wolf. Remus is one such moon-touched, haunted by a dark being that followed him from beyond the veil.

They're unsure of why but the ability to connect with the veil seems to have become much more common in the newest generations within the pack; Most of the older wolves, apart from Remus, have yet to come across any visions from the veil. This has, in times past, been a cause of turmoil between members of the pack: despite their common belief of the overlap of worlds, many of them took pity on Remus' condition and somewhat discredited his experiences, believing being "moon-touched" was nothing more than just a mental illness with no basis in reality whatsoever.
