Vindictive Gods

The sound of gently flowing water fills your ears as you approach a nearby waterfall. It's not too large, so you climb up the rocks beside it and continue on your way. Leaves crunch satisfyingly under your paws as you follow along a river. A setting sun dapples through towering trees, the occasional drops of light warning your fur. The humidity of the summer air is making you tired and sleepy, so you search for a resting spot.
You stick closely to the river, lest you get lost. The liquid snake slithers through the forest, turning and coiling at nature's will. Finally, you come across an area more heavily wooded than the ones you were just in. You're about to nestle into a small hill- it's mouth is dug out so it appears like a miniature cave- when you're greeted with rustling noises and, eventually, a pair of yellow eyes. You'll have to put that nap on hold.
