Death's Triad
3 adolescent wolves in this pack may leave at the next rollover due to overcrowding!
There was a time when all the gods lived together among the mortals, not yet separated by realms. It was a joyous era with enormous feasts and great gifts bestowed upon this world. The peace didn't last forever though. Jealousy made its way amongst the gods, making them grow bitter and resentful. Lesser-known gods saw their powers fading away with the influence of more worshipped gods who granted their mortal disciples more and more boons. Tempers rose and it ended like it always did. War wreaked havoc among the mortal plain. Gods and mortals alike fell and perished but even those who bested their enemies with skill and cunning, felt weaker each day. Merely the gods of death were still thriving. They were one of the few powers the mortals still believed in after so much bloodshed and misery. Amongst cries and tears, their influence grew until they were powerful enough to take control of the realm. But they didn't. They had no interest in followers or ruling as they were ever-present. Instead, they sat down with the two other fractions who still held more control than others: the gods of light and nature. Together, they formed a plan to banish all remaining gods from the mortal plain, including themselves. The time of the gods on earth was over, they all knew it. And yet, this triad of power wasn't strong enough on their own to pursue this plan. So they enlisted mortal souls to aid them.
The nature gods called out for animals well versed in hunting prey to round up the weakened gods. A wolf led this pack of predators, eager to see the change the banishment would bring. In the darkness of the night, the gods of light shouted up to the moon to pull all the gods out of the mortal realm. It happily obliged, scattering the former rulers amongst the stars. All that was left now was for the remaining triad to retreat as well.
Before they left, the gods of nature kissed the earth and new halms of grass sprung out of the ground. Flowers bloomed rapidly on former battlefields, colouring the realm once more. The moon and his sister, the sun, were left to bring order back into the life of the mortal souls. The gods of light bid them farewell and ascended among the stars. And the gods of death? They knew they would always wander every realm there was. No matter where life would settle down, they would follow soon. For a moment they remained still, watching life return to the once barren grounds of this realm. They smiled to themselves before their eyes settled upon the animals gathered around them.
"You did well, my friends", the gods of death said and all the predators found themselves surprised by how gentle they sounded. "We will never forget your aid on this day. You will always have our gratitude." The lead wolf stepped forward and bowed but the gods shook their heads. "Do not kneel, friend. We are just a part of you as you are a part of us. We are all equals from now on." Once again they smiled. "Until we meet again." They closed their cloaks around themselves and banished their physical forms from this realm.
The animals soon scattered, spreading the tale of the triad. The Death's Triad pack was founded by a descendent of the lead wolf who was part of this old tale. Until this day, the wolves of this pack feel a strong connection to nature, the light of the moon, and to death. They fight and hunt fiercely, unafraid of dying. Herbalists are among the most respected members of the pack, and their advice is always valued. A lot of the wolves feel a strong connection to the moon and the lunar cycle. Contrary to other packs, this reflects in moonlight following some of these wolves in a more physical way than others. And lead wolves often visit different realms in their dreams, closely connected to the triad.
The blessing of the triad isn't a boon granted by blood but by belief. Everyone who shares their ideals and shows a close connection to the triad's powers is welcome in this pack. It is currently led in the fourth succession by the lead wolf Auster.
