Fjordflokken
~Ulveflokken fra nordfjordene og fjellene~
The wolf pack of the northern fjords and the mountains.
"Vi har i oss Mørket. Dette er hva vi har blitt..."
The pack had journeyed for many years. Over a decade of wandering through the mountains, forests and grasslands, and the pack from the fjords had yet to find their permanent home. Leaders passed away one by one without ever seeing the pack settle - first Kimi, then Kaia, and soon after Bucky. At first, the wandering seemed hopeless and without notion, but it would turn out that the pack's true destiny could only be found in their time wandering.
It all started when Garrus joined the pack. He brought with him something a bit strange inside himself - a small difference, so to speak. Unbeknownst to the pack, Garrus carried the Darkness in him. It was not immediately apparent in his pups, but many of his grandpups were of the Darkness. Some wolves thought this to be a curse, but others, such as Kaia, took it as a blessing. Soon, many of the pack's wolves carried the Darkness in themselves, including Kaia's daughter by Garrus, Avalyn. Others who carried the Darkness inside joined the pack - Sylvain, Orion, Vulpecula, Capella and Arietas, to name a few - and it was not long before most of the pack carried the Darkness within themselves.
When Kaia's time came, she chose Avalyn to take over the pack for her. Kaia saw the pack's future intricately connected with the Darkness and believed that having a leader who carried the Darkness would be the key to the pack finding their permanent home. This was a shock to Avalyn, as she had not been prepared for this daunting task and she could not bear to take over after her mother's passing. Bucky took over in her stead for the final year of his life to help the younger wolf prepare for her position. During Bucky's last few months of life, another wolf who carried the Darkness joined the pack. It became apparently to Bucky that Avalyn was not willing to take over as lead, but this new wolf, Soren, certainly was. And so, Soren took over the pack, and soon after, the pack found their home in the Darkness...
The wandering was not for naught.
Under Soren's leadership, the pack settled in a boreal forest nestled between the mountains and the fjords. The taiga was full of prey, had plenty of hiding spots, and was flush with herbs of all kinds. The only downside was that it was dark in the forest - very dark. Nearly all the sun's light was blocked by the thick pine canopy, which became even more of a problem during the long winter season. At first, the pack was unsure of making the forest their home for more than a few months, but before long, the pack began to see the benefits of their new abode.
The darkness of the forest made it harder for prey to spot them coming - especially for the wolves who carried the Darkness. It was very safe for their pups as well. Pups hid among the roots of the pines in what was essentially darkness within the darkness. No predator had any hope of finding the little ones. Once the pack got used to navigating the darkness of the taiga, there was no argument. This forest was going to be the pack's home for a long time.
For the wolves who were less fond of the dark forest, the fjords quickly became a popular retreat. Wolves splashed around in the icy waters, some hunting for fish, and others just having fun. In the summer, the fjord was teeming with pups learning how to swim while adult wolves lounged on the shore. Despite the fact that the pack primarily lived within the forest, the other animals in the area began to refer to the pack as "Fjordflokken" - the Fjord Pack - because that was were they were most visible to their neighboring creatures. The pack had never had a name before, so no one really complained about being called Fjordflokken, and the name stuck.
To this day, Fjordflokken lives in the same forest, nestled between the same mountains and the same fjords. The stories are still told of their ancestors plight, wandering for decades before finding their home, so there is no doubt that the pack does not take their home for granted. If you spend enough time near the fjords, you will eventually come across wolves - but be warned - these wolves will fight ferociously to defend their precious home. Should you come to visit the pack of the fjords, just remember to present your friendliest side. If not, you might just find out what the wolves of the Darkness can do.

This pack is mostly low gen wolves with merle markings and lots of melanism carriers, sprinkled with high stat puppers here and there. I'm starting to get more into stats, so there may be some actually decent low gen statters here soon. Now let's see if I can make statty mela carriers and mela wolves...!! All of the wolves in this pack are NIB (not inbred).
I'm kind of starting to do my own little Hard Mode thing here and focusing on raising statty wolves from my own NBW lines (see my player profile for my rules). Since I've had several NBW Melanism carriers now, I am also trying to breed Melas in much the same way - only using my own wolves. For both, I am also ok with breeding out to G1 or G2 studs, but I will not allow outbred wolves to take on pack leader or stud roles. Only NBWs or those born in the pack to my own wolves can become lead or a stud.
FUN FACT: None of my wolves are for sale unless they are already in a trade. The exception to this is if I found an NBW that you chased. I'm usually happy to sell them back to you as long as I'm not set on keeping that wolf.
GOALS:
- breed more tier III bases
[so far bred Fox, Realgar, Lily, Pearl, Pyrope, Seal, Grulla, Mojave, Wulfenite, Zircon, Piasa]
-breed a low gen mela pup with hetero bw/wb eyes
- breed G2 Mela Carriers with Dust, Smoke and Storm eyes to breed to Dimitri or future lead
[bred a G2 Storm Mela Carrier!!]
-expand territory to 100
GOAL: SUCCESS - - - G2 Het WB Mela
All pups born into this pack are NIB and low gen. I try to keep my lines as short as possible - this includes my stud and my lead, who will usually be NBWs or Gen 2s. I no longer put many wolves on the TC because the economy is weird and I can't price pups properly. I am not currently selling my pups, nor am I giving many of my pups up at the Enclave.
Biomes Fjordflokken has lived in:
Deciduous Forest, Coniferous Forest, Mountains, Grasslands, Riparian Woodlands, Tundra, Taiga
