The mountains are a cold place, and even the warmth of exertion doesn't keep the cold from pricking at you. On the periphery of your vision is the dense mountain forest. The winds ribbon through your fur, curl at your skin with icy strength, and you decide to take shelter in the trees.
It is almost silent, inside. Your crunching footsteps and puffs of breath have a stunted quality, as though the forest is swallowing their sounds. Idly, you wonder if the forest is cursed, or alive, or hungry, and if you will simply disappear up here, your body absorbed into the roots.
It is then when you come across the wolves.
