Vue Pack
The forest is dense and quiet. The soft crunch of fallen leaves mix with the flutter of bird wings and titter of small animals. Something about the forest buzzes with life even though, oddly, you sense none. Sound rushes around you all at once. An ashen form appears at the peak of the path ahead. Glimmering yellow eyes fix upon you and the alpha's head lifts slightly, an ear twisting forward subtly. At the signal two brown wolves prowl out of the treeline either side of her, heads lowered and ears bent back cautiously. The one with grey eyes looks back at the alpha, barking, "Smells like a visitor, Alpha."
The Alpha female approaches, another two wolves approach; one golden the other grey. They look over you and pause behind their Alpha. Her nose bunches up and she takes a deep inhale of your scent. "Visitor. You wish to meet my pack?" You nod your head, watching the Alpha closely. She seems to size you up, and then sigh. "Alright. My name is Lark, I am the founder of the Vue Pack. These wolves belong to me, so don't get any ideas." The Alpha leaves you with those of her pack that gathered to meet you.
The brown wolves approach and one sniffs at you and wags her tail, "Hello, I'm Starling, don't mind Lark, she's just protective." The charming smile quickly fades when the other brown wolf pushes against her with a snap of her teeth. "We have work to do, no time for formalities. I'm Robin, and I'm not sticking around to share scents." With another snap of her teeth, Robin bossily hurries Starling away.
The golden wolf and grey wolf are still a few paces off, and look at each other cautiously until the golden one bounds down towards you. "Hello stranger. I'm sorry you haven't had the warmest welcome. You can call me Finch, I'm the Herbalist, and that back there," she indicates the blue-grey wolf, "is Jay. She's our scout. She's quiet." Finch smiles, genuinely happy to see a new face. "Everyone's a little prickly right now because of some...family issues. This is Lark's ancestral home so she can be very territorial." Finch looks again at Jay, and the scout flicks her ears back, and then forward again. "I think it may be best that we show you back to the border."
Hidden amongst the trees, a ruined castle stands atop a crest of rock. These hallowed grounds have been populated by wolves for centuries and it has been Lark's greatest wish to return to her birthplace. Her litter, including herself and a younger brother, were born in a den beneath the ruins of an old human made castle. Years later, when Lark was accompanied by Hawk and several other pack members, she returned to the site of her birth, and the birth of her forefathers, to continue her family's line.
