Oyster Island Pack
On the edge of the world, the ancient wolves on Oyster Island have made this gusty, sea-swept tundra their home. Their ancestors crossed the vast plains of Beringea thousands of years before. Now, their ghostly howls travel across the waves and mix with the echoing ice cracks of massive glaciers. Each wolf is named for the first item it adds to its nest. Some young wolves choose to commit feats of strength to earn their namesake: wrestling with sharks or large birds. Others show a quieter strength through skillful scavenging and careful collection of feathers, flowers, or insects. The island itself is made up of primordial landscapes. Oyster Island is ringed with rocky beaches scattered with shells and glacial fjords. The beaches are abutted by dense pine forests. Further inland and upland are grasslands and alpine tundra. The high peaks in the center of the island are the backdrop to a plentiful bounty of hot springs and windblown rock features on the wide-open grasslands. High upon the mountains are creeping glaciers, while deep within the mountains are primeval caves. ❧ |
