Pack at the Intersection
In the traditions of the Pack at the Intersection, "Beta" simply means "Current Heir." It shifts as pack dynamics do - someone is always in that place should anything happen to the pack leader, but it isn't a hard and fast designation.
The pack is a family, and their titles reflect that.
Greatfather: The breeding male who is the pack leader.
Greatmother: The breeding female who is the pack leader.
Father: The breeding male.
Mother: The breeding females.
Brother: The non-breeding males of the same generation as the pack leader.
Sister: The females of the same generation as the pack leader. They typically mate outside the pack if they breed at all.
Daughter: Females in a younger generation than the pack leader.
Son: Males in a younger generation than the pack leader. Generally non-breeding.
Dispersing: The wolves who will leave the pack upon adulthood, dispersing out into the world.
